What is the proper beer to serve in these? Sorry for the multiple questions on drink ware. These are just questions I've had.
"Proper" in what way? Historically accurate? It would be mead or a "weak", hopless ale / Gruit. Something like this. Or do you mean Viking themed? Skull Splitter comes to mind, you can find it all over the place (at least you can here in the US). The horn isn't really considered a "standard" glass (like a snifter, tulip, nonic pint) with rules as to which types of beer you're "suppposed" to drink from it.
The way I was thinking every style of glass deserves a style of beer. Tall thin glasses lighter styles of beer big bold beer. Chalice, tulip. I was thinking German lagers or perhaps a German pilsner may fit the bill. Or perhaps a brag got?
This is normally what I drink out of my horns, especially now that Downeast Cidery has come out with a 'sessionable' mead. Though I will say, drinking Blood Ov The Kings from a horn has a nice atmosphere about it.
I have this one and every time I think of putting beer in it, I try to imagine cleaning it, and then go back to regular glasses. It's for a very small town in Germany, with a picture of the 500 year old city hall and the town crest.
