I've never really seen this with anything related to beer outside BMC, but Pliny the Younger is a current trending topic on Yahoo... Hmm how many people are really searching Pliny the Younger on yahoo search engine?

Click to make big, PtY is Number 6

Nevermind PtY. Let's talk about these $12,000 melons.

Also trending: BMC drinkers walking into their local liquor store/watering hole asking for PtY.

Pliny the Younger is overrated and over hyped. Its time for a new king of IIPA's.

That's the beauty of it though. Let people fall all over themselves trying to get a glass of Pliny. It makes other, comparable beers that much easier to acquire and enjoy. Give me a PtE, Double Jack, Hoptimum, Pure Hoppiness, Lagunitas Sucks, Blue Dot, Hop Venom... (I'd include Citra but that's about as easy to get as PtY)

Somebody is bitter over the fact he's never gotten to try younger!

I've had it twice & I agree 100% w/ the good Captain. It's indisputably good, but so are many other beers.

Saying that so many other beers are good is not an argument. If so many other beers weren't good, I would only be drinking beer the one or two days I go to get younger. Of course so many other beers are good, but with a rating system like the one on this website, one beer has to be the best, whether it is your personal favorite or not.

Somebody is jealous that they haven't had the better.

    /have had PtY
//can think of a couple IIPAs that are better.

Oh I agree, there has to be a top beer if there's going to be a list at all. My main thing is accessibility. I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying PtY or any other beer, given the chance. People should know what all the buzz is about.

I'm just saying that for me, ease/difficulty in acquiring a beer so you can try it is also a pretty major factor. I'd rather have a really great DIPA that's readily available with little/no inconvenience over one I can get on tap only for a couple days a year.

DUDE!!!! Don't let anyone else in on the secret of Blue Dot. That beer is so frigging awesome, I can't stand it. Great call. BTW, I agree on PTY. I'd rather have PTE....... But we all get a vote so God Bless.

Blue Dot. Damn, now I have to figure out how to get a bottle here to Boston.... Damn

Here are some possible options. Funny thing about Blue Dot, I almost always bypass it when I see it. Just $1 or $2 too pricey for a bomber. Don't get me wrong, it's great; just wish it came in 6-packs and/or cans instead. Getting picky in my old age.
