having it right now and holy shit...been blessed with a lot of good new beers lately but this may take the cake...the maple syrup really rounds out the beer without it being overly sweet...probably the best stout ive ever tried along with abyss and bcbcs...anyone else been lucky enough to snag some: discuss

Def. a great beer. We wondered if it was made with maple extract? So much maple, yet maple ferments out. Mouthfeel about perfect. Rich and delicious. Mmmmmm so good.

Would love to get my hands on some. It sounds like a newer version of CBS the way people are talking about it in the reviews.

Neither have I, and CBS is actually my personal white whale, so it sounds like I might need to get this one instead.

I've had trouble landing this one, and they're still for sale at the brewery! I understand the want for rare beer in exchange but I don't see how someone couldn't stock up on 6,9, or 12 bottles of this. Guess I'll try posting another ISO again now that time has passed since the initial release.

Coffee aside, how does it compare to KBBS- for the big traders out there?

Yeah I know the 3 bottle limit but someone who lives closer to the brewery should be able to make a few trips. Or do they memorize your face? Lol

It's a 3 bottle per person limit per day. The problem is no one lives close to the brewery. It's in the middle of nowhere down dirt roads.

    Right from the bottle:
Brewed in May of 2012, we crafted this beer with malted wheat and Vermont maple syrup.

    And yes, it is fantastic.

I was extremely fortunate that it has lasted this long on the shelves. I was able to grab a few yesterday.

@huddyball I would urge you to look at the post I just put up in the ISO:FT forum then and see if there's anything that interests you!

It doesn't say "...and without maple extract."

In fact many beers use many extracts and not one of them lists it on label AFAIK. I have had at least 15 beers that use maple syrup and not one has this much maple flavor.

The man who suggested extract possibility first in our group has the best palate and brewing knowledge of anyone I know. Here is his blog.

Like CaveDave alludes to, maple flavor is really hard to keep in fermenting beer. It's one of the most fermentable sugars there is so it's almost always gone by the time it gets to your mouth.

Was there any talk about how much was left? I'll be there Wednesday at opening, just wondering if I need to be first or not.

Sorry, but I didn't even think about looking at what was left. I can say I was there between 3-3:45 and there weren't many people buying the bottles. Most were there for growler fills.
