Yeah, it does sound insane, but I finally had a slow saturday with no plans, and was able to spend it just hanging out with a good friend (fellow insane beer lover), getting out of the city for a half day and enjoying some fresh air and great beer. We enjoyed the West View Creamery during the middle of the wait, and stopped for an awesome iced coffee in Sturbridge on the way home.

Figured it is about time I spent some of my disposable income in MA vs VT for once.

They didn't give out samples because it was only a 5 barrel batch and they wanted as many people as possible to be able to get some.

Many people also think Heady Topper is mediocre at best .Not everybody palates are the same. People have different opinions.

I will say this. Normally when a release of this nature takes place people will go out of their way to say it is "the best beer they have ever tasted". The responses I've heard so far haven't been this.

With that said, both breweries are awesome and I'm sure the beer was solid.

IMO: a very well done beer, full of juiciness, not very aromatic at all. So if you don't get much on the nose, but it was full of flavor.

Maybe its because I drank mine that night, but I thought this beer was big on aroma. All I could smell was mango from a 12 foot radius.

I havent had julius since last summer but this is a very good beer, I liked it better then juice machine.

Tried my second 750 tonight, and definitely picked up more aroma this time around. Maybe allergies or something got the best of my nose the first go around. Really enjoyed it again, very minimal bitterness, some on the tail end, but not overly sweet either, pretty thick mouth feel, and full of citrus.

I'm drinking my second tonight as well. Glad the aromas came around this go.

The drinkability on this is pretty high for 8 percent. It's very soft on the pallet and full citrus taste. I don't get any bitter bite on the end which is very rare at 8 percent and for a dipa.

I'll reiterate good stuff here glad I was home this weekend and able to drive out west to pick this up.

I am going to be a sad individual when I move to dc this fall for grad school and do not have access to said hop goodness. Hopefully some ma bas are willing to send me cans of Julius when it comes out.
