CHICAGO -- The Cubs have had a tough time scoring lately, so pitcher Travis Wood took matters into his own hands.

Wood belted a three-run homer, hit an RBI double, and struck out nine over seven innings to lead the Cubs to a 5-1 victory Monday night over the D-backs.

 

@tommyguz as predicted Phillies are planning to appeal the MLB ruling for Howard's "double"....

I feel that's bogus. Appealing something. Really. What do you want more instant replay....should we instant replay every ball and strike called...come on. (Sorry I just dislike the Phillies)

 

Hahaha, I know you better, you're just looking for something to argue about! If it were, say, Beltre you would be all for the appeal- it's a significant accomplishment for any player, and as a Phillies fan I'd like to see him get it. I really do think they have a valid case- you can't give an error to a guy for taking a lousy route to the ball which resulted in him not getting there in time, plus it didn't even touch him! Will be interesting to see how it unfolds...

 

Don't you bring Beltre into this.

If I were a true Pirates fan, I'd be all over it, however, I don't actually have confidence in the Buccos to win at any time, if the Cards were playing the Rangers, I'd take that bet!
