This may be my saddest post ever in the ongoing "What beer are you drinking threads." At least I hope it never gets any worse than this.

After working a 13 hour day, I stopped at the grocery store and picked up some Tyranena Down and Dirty Chocolate Oatmeal Stout. When I opened my car door to pull groceries out, the 6 pack toppled onto the concrete floor of my garage. I lost 4 bottles completely and was able to partially save two, whose caps came loose and foamed but didn’t break.

Am I cleaning the mess off my garage floor and walls and doors and ceiling? Seriously, beer sprayed everywhere. No, I am not cleaning. Not until I finish the stout and a half or so that I rescued and get some sleep.

    Agreed.

I can tell by the subtle way that they use the oak in the Eiche that it has the potential to take on that medicinal phenolic character if used in a stronger fashion. Obviously, they don't take it that far. In that sense it's a very well-made beer and it shows that they really know their ingredients.

Overall, though, the beechwood is just made for smoked beers and can be really ramped up provided the base beer can support it. Which, in this case, it definitely can.

These are both extremely enjoyable beers, though, like I said earlier- each in their own way. The Eiche is definitely more malty and less smoky, and would probably be a great place to get your feet wet if you are unfamiliar with rauchbiers.

Malheur Dark Brut. Too cheap to get a smartphone so you'll have to take my word for it

I've decided I'm a big fan of Maine Beer Company.

    Well-crafted ales every time.

I don't often go for the non-Imperial stout, but this was a real nice beer.

    Chillin' out with...

    Cheers!

Quite impressed with the classy charm and balance of 90 Minute IPA—but my heart still belongs to this

Sorry to hear that. For what it's worth, I think you are making the right call. The mess ain't going anywhere, and hopefully you are getting some enjoyment out of what's left.

Hell, man, just saying "f*** - it!" can be kind of empowering, at least in the short term. So I'll join you in a toast to "right freakin' now". Cheers!

Couldnt agree more. Doesn't mean it was bad by any means. Black Note brought it though.
