*** First 6-packs of Sixpoint to hit shelves in May 2014

BROOKLYN, NYC, USA, PLANET EARTH, MILKY WAY (April 28, 2014) - Sixpoint Brewery, which has been brewing and offering their flagship BENGALI TIGER for the past ten years on draft and for the past three years in 4-packs of 16-ounce cans, announced today the next evolution of their original creation: the BENGALI. The BENGALI will be available on draft and in six-packs of 12-ounce sleek cans in all Sixpoint distribution markets in time for Memorial Day weekend.

"I cannot express how amped I am to be offering the next evolution of one of our most classic beers," said Shane C. Welch, President of Sixpoint Brewery. "The Sixpoint team really knocked it out of the park with the new format and design, which complements the enhanced excellence of the liquid. When we first started brewing Bengali Tiger in 2004, certain hops were not even available to us. With the BENGALI, we have taken the formulation and the design to new heights. This has been over two years in the making both on the design and formulation level, made possible by attentively listening to and processing feedback from our fans and customers. I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing the reaction from them as we share this great new liquid in an entirely unique format!"

Deliveries are planned to go out to Sixpoint wholesalers on the May 12th and arriving in stores shortly thereafter. Since the new case of 12-ounce sleek cans has less liquid than a case of the current Sixpoint 16-ounce "tall-boys", the price point for a case of the new format beers will be considerably less to the customer than the current case. Furthermore, customers will be taking home 72 ounces of beer in a 6-pack instead of 64 ounces of beer in a 4-pack under the new format.

"Better beer at a better price makes people happy," remarked Welch. "I'll drink to that!"

From a design perspective, a case of 12-ounce sleek cans are the same amount of liquid as standard 12-ounce cans, but occupy a smaller footprint in your refrigerator because the sleek can is not as wide as the standard can.

"It's like a beer skyscraper," noted Welch. "Customers appreciated this efficient design when we introduced the craft beer world to the sleek format with the RESIN back in January 2012. Expect more Mad Science from Sixpoint. We're still formulating!"

I love Bengali Tiger; this is basically going to be the same beer, but with a tweaked hop profile? I'm curious what hop availabilities @Sixpoint is talking about. Bengali Tiger is already awesome.

We're constantly tweaking our beers as new ingredients (and processes and equipment) become available. We think of this as "co-evolution" - the beers move in tandem with the evolving availability of ingredients and technology.

That being said, a hop strain such as MOSAIC didn't even exist when we started in 2004. CITRA was also just in development at the time.

Who knows what the future holds?

There will undoubtedly be innovations in equipment, raw materials, and techniques. Despite all of the madness, we'll still be formulating. :-)

I was really hoping you wouldn't mention Mosaic; seems that everyone's throwing that into everything nowadays, and I'm starting to get burned out on it. Now, some Citra and Nelson Sauvin....anyway, I applaud you guys for constantly moving forward. Resin occupies a semi-permanent berth in my fridge (a distinction that I only afford to it and DirtWolf, among beers I can regularly get), and Bengali Tiger is in that same realm.

There must be some confusion. I mentioned Mosaic as a hop strain purely as an example of a hop that is now available that was not previously. However, that particular hop is not in the Bengali.

I'm seriously excited. More importantly, I'm excited to know that all shipments of the 6-pk will be super fresh, and I can't wait to start grabbing them ASAP!

You should do this with all your core beers, then you can do a variety case!

I totally second the variety pack suggestion.
A variety pack with Sweet Action, The Crisp, Bengali Tiger, and Resin or maybe Righteous ale would be incredible.

This is good news to me because I never understood why Sixpoint saw 4 packs as a reasonable format for everyday drinking beers.

I will buy more Bengali as a result of this move

Awesome, I'll be on this for sure.

How about 6 packs of 16oz. cans of the Crisp? 'Gansett's doing their Bohemian Pils in 16oz 6 packs I'm buying that stuff like mad. I'd love to be able to get the Crisp like that.

Not finally giving in - but we will be providing even more info to the customer - beyond the SRM, ABV, and IBU that we have previously been providing.

    cheers!
