What is the strangest bar you have ever been to in your life?

For me it is ‘t Velootje in Gent. Located in a garage of a hoarder, it is full of old bikes and other stuff that he hoards, legally obliged to close several times & operated illegally frequently, he builds fires inside causing danger of asphyxiation, only a few people can move physically inside, no choice of beer & it is in plastic cups, exorbitant prices, it is only open when the guy feels like it.

Here is a picture of the owner at the bar (& yes this is how the bar actually looks like):

No Scum Allowed Saloon, in White Oaks, NM. A 20 foot-square brick builiding at the end of a 10 mile dirt road in a ghost town.

Sounds like what we call a Keg party here in the states.

Double wide trailer in a small country town in lousiana with an in law. Luckily they had premium beer that night so I could get a budweiser as opposed to the beast everyone else seemed to be "enjoying." I was quite happy to make it out alive as I assumed the in law was taking me there to have me killed

I believe myself to be familiar with the concept, trust me it is not nothing like that. There are like max. 4 people inside in dark place, incapable to move, surrounded by junk etc. The experience is like being part of one of those reality shows focusing on hoarders. Unless if you hang out at some very weird keg parties J

It just needs to be weird/strange, the beer selection can be good or bad.

Noc Noc in San Francisco. Cool, but trippy. I particularly like the bomb hanging from the ceiling.

This place called the Juice Bar. There wasn't a single beer to be had, even BMC. Couldn't figure it out...

When I lived in Singapore during high school there was a bar, I think it was called the Mider, but it was basically a small hotel that was partially burned down and only served Tiger (Singapore's local beer) out of bottles from a really crappy fridge that barely cooled the beer. It looked abandoned from the outside with no maintenance of the property whatsoever and overgrown vegetation everywhere. They had one room for rent upstairs for like 25 bucks, but the water didn't work and there was a big hole in the bathroom floor. Sounds like a nightmare, but I'd give anything to relive that night.

Finally a good thread! My favorite law mower beer is...just kidding. A bar in Clifton, NJ that was in the owners house - the place has to be grandfathered. It was on a side street and you could sit on the couch with him in his living room watching TV with him between orders.

Man I spent 6 weeks on the road on a cross country trip and hit bars all over the country. Texas has some weird dive saloons for sure, black hills has interesting stops, the wagon wheel in the Badlands comes to mind, most honky tonks in Nashville are def different, the piney bars near me, Adirondack mountain bars, tombstone AZ was filled w good saloons. All those places are def diff than what most city folk are used to. I could prob name 100 weird ones, doesn't make them bad in the least way tho. If there was one thing I learned about bars and being on the road, it's that usually the scariest looking places had the friendliest folks. There's no bar I'd have to think about entering or be scared to do so, as some folks are.

This place looks like there's a possibility that homeless people may be squatting inside. When you approach the front door it is nailed shut leading you to believe its closed. I would have peered on the windows but it has none. I walked to the back and the rear door is a little open. I go inside and am the only one there except for two employees both sitting at the bar drinking and watching "pawn stars". Surprisingly good beer list but the prices are high even if the place was nicer.

I order a beer. I ask about food and they tell me they don't have food. They then order for delivery 1 min later without a thought to ask me if I'd like something. I finished my beer waited for another but it never came. Played a game of pinball. I cashed out and left. Weird place.

This is hilarious to me. What kind of drinks did he offer? Did it seem like a legit bar or just some dude in his house looking for people to hang out with?
