I just found this jewel in my basement after moving out my lawn furniture. ( finally warm enough). I was wondering if it's still safe to drink? There's still carbonation in the bottle if I shake it. Or if anyone knows what decade it's from that would help as well. I've lived here for 7 years and the previous owner built it in the 80's so I guessing it's from then.

Safe? sure. Will it taste good? Open it up and tell us. Was it hidden between the drywall or something?

My guess is that it will be the skunkiest beer you've ever tried....,.,.,

I wouldn't open it, because you'll end up pouring it out. Keep it as is. Put it on top of your kitchen cabinets.

Don't turn this into the reddit "safe" story. Just open it and let us drink it vicariously through you.

Preserving it unopened means you open yourself up to a lifetime of people saying, "I wonder what it tastes like?" Then, you die, and you have nothing but a bunch of stories of people wondering what it tastes like. Whack.

Drink it and report back. We all know it's gonna taste like ass, but at least you'll be able to describe, in detail, the taste of that ass. That is a fun experience, albeit a twisted one.

Beck's really isn't that bad. It tastes like beer and that's more than can be said for some mass-produced lagers!

To be fair, when you die, you aren't going to have any conscience thought so there won't be regret about not opening it. I agree that it would be kind of a fun experience to take a small sip (and surely pour the rest) of that terribly past-prime beer, but I also think it would be fun to keep in the cellar as a silly centerpiece.

Indeed, no consciousness after you die, I was being sarcastic in my comments.

Ultimately it comes down to which you'd prefer to have, a silly centerpiece or a silly experience. I'll take the latter everyday.

Could make it a silly centerpiece until the novelty wears off, then have a silly experience!

Not like it's gonna get worse after another year or two...

Classic example of why brewers shouldn't be using green bottles.

It will be fine. I had a ~9 year old can of MGD that was surprisingly good, almost gose-like. No joke.

I don't think Beck's is triple hopped like MGD, so it may not have the staying power of Miller.

Dam that triple hopping is great! More breweries need to do that! Lol

You should trade it to someone looking to do a 30 year Becks vertical.

Well if you found it in the basement, chances are it wasn't exposed to light and wouldn't be skunked. I vote for drinking it, I doubt it has any market value, so sacrifice it to the greater good of beer research!
