It's essentially a tart stout, and the tartness is obvious and pleasant.

    Next week for Austin.

No, really. Bit of a delay.

    1) This will be everywhere

    2) Not sure this beer is meant to be tart? Can someone confirm? The first batch wasn't tart

I'm guessing, no one knows what type of wine barrel? Unless you're at chili's, red isn't a type.

I should never post things like I did above. Sorry about that. I should know better than that by now to post things until they are better verifiyed.
I think there will be a delay intil next week getting WBN to some big box places. It makes sense that the Mom and Pops are getting some today. They don't have to deal with all the ridiculous red tape.

It's not tart but the barrel shines through.

    Sorry, I disagree :slight_frown:

The actual flavor profile is fine, but the finish is extremely off putting to me for some reason, quite a strong sour note (and not in a good way). The wine and the barrel do shine through though, for sure...Just one of those "Love it or Hate it beers" i have a feeling.

I for one will not be buying any more, but thankfully they make plenty of variants (and the regular Noir may very well be the best of the bunch.)

I agree with you. For my taste it overpowers the stout. Great thing about beer is there is something for everyone to enjoy. Not bashing the brewery, love them and love trying new stuff, this one just was a miss for my taste buds. More for everyone else.

This is really good IMO. I have a BYOB Italian restaurant I frequent and I'll be holding back as many of these as I can for when I go there. Perfect fit.

Personally I've been looking forward to trying this for a while and I haven't had a chance to swing by to grab a bottle yet. So based on that I'm going to go ahead and agree that this is a terrible variant and nobody should buy it. But in the unfortunate event that you end up with a few that you don't want please feel free to contact me so I can dispose of them properly.

I thought they were using 2009 boxes of Franzia.
