Like others have said, cuvée Rene. Though I'm a sucker for lambics.

Like others have said, Rodenbach Grand Cru with Cuvée des Jacobins a close second for the reds, and Cuvée Rene but if you can dish out another $3 and get Drie Fonteinen Oude Gueuze, I'd do that 10 times out of 10.

I've enjoyed Lindeman lambics for years. If you like fruit beers, they are decent, if a bit pricey for what you get.

More recently, I had Rodenbach and Rodenbach Grand Cru on tap at two Belgian restaurants, one in D.C., the other in Indianapolis. Both were very, very good; relatively balanced - no pain - and not much more expensive than a typical craft brew.

if what you groove on is that "wicked dry, deep deep peanut oil, horse sweat, we've been doing this forever funk" Boon Oude Geuze Marriage Parfait is a great one to keep around. It's tough as nails, and almost begs you to mistreat it in the cellar. It does a banana thing a couple year out and is find-able at prices that don't make you take it way too seriously.

In a sour mash lactobacillus on the grain produce lactic acid. Berliner Weisse is considered a sour beer, and can be made with a sour mash.

Rodenbach is a great value and very good beer in general sours do run a bit high due to the process and scarcity of many of them.

Best sour for the price? Silly sour. It's not terribly complex, but it is very tart and refreshing. Perfect summer day drink. And usually $2-3 per 12oz bottle. If you want something more special, jacobins hands down.

I came here to say this. At $8.99/4 pack, as usual, New Glarus comes through with a winner!

Too bad this one exists only 2 months a year (if that).

Here's a thought...you can order some Cascade sours, they deliver to your door when you order off their site...I've never actually tried one but they have some pretty high scores on here.Ive also heard they are outstanding from my coworker. If their too pricey have some other BA's throw in with you and share....

Ps I heard their peach sour and sang noir are bombdotcom

I wasn't aware their thumbprints were on a schedule. As far as I know, it might be years before we see another, if ever.

I don't know if they are, either, although a few of them seem to be popping up almost yearly (Berliner Weiss, IIPA). I wouldn't be surprised if they released Wild Sour Ale again this year, based on the popularity (although they might just release something similar). Who knows?
