Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I was just curious if shipping should be factored in to $4$? If I ship a $12 375ml for a six pack in return, shipping is lopsided, so should I be expected to add a little more to even out shipping, but in turn upping my half of the beer cost? Just curious, cheers!

I always try to take the other party's shipping into account when negotiating a trade. Most of my trades are bombers for 4 packs. With that in mind it only seems fair to trade a $10-12 4 pack for a $16-18 Bomber, shipping considered.

In my experience, there is very little difference between the shipping price of a bomber or a 4pk, certainly not $6-8 bucks. Besides, thats what extras are for. Unless I am trading (or trading for) a case vs a bottle or two, I never consider shipping costs.

Usually not, but if the number of bottles is lopsided and shipping is more for one party it is good form to throw in a little more on trade to make up for shipping.

Shipping on my end or my partner's end has never entered my mind. I don't really care much about $4$ because I trade for what I want to try rather than locals/shelf stuff, and I'm mature enough to know that shipping heavy ass beers all around the country isn't necessarily the most cost-effective thing in the world. I don't see how that should translate to the conversation two traders have about making sure each one is happy with the beers they receive, that's always been my primarily goal.

Shipping should never be an issue, unless there is a monstrous disparity (say someone is sending you a case of something for 1 bottle on your end).

Even in those cases, is both parties agree on the deal, I'd personally add some stuff to level the playing field if I was on the lighter end of the deal, although its not required.

Best way to approach any trade is to make sure both parties are happy. Everything else is just details

this, pretty much. when i speak $4$, i speak retail price in the country of the trade where applicable. fou foune is 8ish EUR at the brewery, but no one trades it in the US as a ~$10 beer (if you were lucky enough to find one at retail here in the states it'd likely be in the $30+ neighbourhood).

Generally no. But if I'm shipping 2 beers and the other guys sending 12, I always add a few beers for the extra time and trouble to ship. Not required though I always look at where and what before I do a trade, especially if it's a Ca trade,

The difference in price is usually not that much. Case in point If you ship a package...next time you use fedex online to make the label...check the price with the weight of the package....then add 5 lbs...the difference in cost is minimal.

For example I just shipped a package from Michigan to Texas. It was 10lbs and cost $10.37...If I were to send a 15lb package instead it would only be $11.44.

I would hope no one will have an issue with $1,07. It just complicates things and delays the trade from happening. Most trades that I complete I try to have agreed upon in 4-5 messages or less. Only time it goes longer is if someones looking to expand and some things have to be worked out. I just dont have a lot of time to go back and forth making sure $4$ is perfectly even.

In the end it will all average out. Sometimes you give up $4$ and other times you don't.

Pretty sure I'm doing something wrong and have pissed away a lot of unecessary $$. I set up an account and ship fedex express 2 day on my trades and it's usually btw 20-30, waaaaay more on my Cali trades. What company/shipping option do you use?

I think it's the 2 day express maybe? I'll check next time I ship something. I just select ground shipping. Usually gets there in 3 days depending on the location. If it's Cali then 4 days

can't imagine why you're not just shipping Home Delivery or Ground. it's probably half as expensive as 2-day
