I have been getting several inquiries seeking info on the Love Child #2 and wanted to share a message sent from our brewmaster Steven Pauwels to shed some light on the process.

" Lovechild #2 is a blend of sour beer aged in oak barrels and sour beer aged in stainless. We used 41 barrels (the majority were wine barrels but also used whiskey and port barrels were part of the blend) with a range of different base beers aged for 16 to 57 months. The sour beer in stainless is a beer called 'red' that is specifically brewed for the Lovechild beers. Our brewers spend a Saturday afternoon tasting all the barrels to come up with the blend for Lovechild #2. The beer in a bottle of Lovechild #2 is on average two years old by now. We currently have close to 100 barrels and a stainless tank waiting for the next version. Barrels get tasted on a regular basis and when we have another series of barrels ready we hope to release the next Lovechild. It is not our goal to make the Lovechild beers the same every time but to make the best blend of what we have available. Lovechild beers will change with aging. I recommend to drink the beer now as I believe that the flavor blend is now at its peak."

Let me know if you guys have any more questions.

Yes, San Antonio will be getting some and the beer should be hitting distributor docks the last half of next month based on delivery schedules. I'll get you firmer ETAs ad we get closer.

Around 80-90 cases to the state. I'm not near my computer to get you firm market numbers, but I will update when I do. The beer should start hitting shelves a week and a half from now roughly depending on delivery schedules and distributor inventory check in times, barring any unforseen delays.

    Where? South Austin?
Nothing last more than a week at the Arbor Spec's and there still aren't any decent beer selections in north Austin besides Spec's since Grapevine went under...

Rye on Rye was really good. This was my first year to have it and it was delicious.

Age it for 12 to 16 months and it will be one of the best beers you've ever had.

Glad I read your post just now, Matt. I was about to drink my last bottle of RoR later tonight, but think I'll sit on it for awhile to see how true your assessment this beer with age is.

And not to take further attention away from the OP's topic(looking forward to trying some LC#2 as well)... but is there any DFW BA's who have seen anymore rye on rye on area shelves? Only bottles I bought this year(2) were found on a trip to Austin a couple months back. I've never even seen it around here.
