Yep. They have started minor distribution of Boat Beer cans, haven't they? Can't wait to see some Carton and Kane more readily available throughout the Drty Jerz.

Really? I've had at least 6 different beers from Carton, all in Philly. And often, not just a random special keg.

What constitutes a session beer is a matter of debate, but for purposes of discussion let's say under 6% alcohol.

Am I the only one who doesn't get a kick out or the new wave of session IPAs (all day, easy jack, etc)? I just wish I was drinking the real thing. If I'm trying to limit the alcohol, I'd sooner reach for a Westbrook gose (4%), a pale ale (SN @ 5.6%), or a hef (weihenstephaner hef @ 5.4%).

What low gravity beers satiate your craving for a brew? Brownie points for lower abv.

This thread will get lots of great suggestions for lighter hoppier or sour beers, so I wont bother with my favorite wheats and ambers. But I will throw out a vote for Keewenaw's Widow Maker. My local keeps it on tap and at 5.2% it is flavorful, if a little "meh" on the hops. A very nice session beer with a bit of roast snap.

Full Sail Session Lager is the only choice at 5.1% ABV. I have a couple of twelve-packs every summer, mixed in with all the other things I try.

I didn't even think of the Brits. Not too familiar with the beers other than your avg pub taps I see when in the UK (which usually prides itself on being colder than the next guy). Need to track down some landlord.

Well, I had an All Day IPA, Schlafly Session IPA, STONE Go To, Smuttynose Bouncy House, Troegs Sunshine Pils, Etc. And here I am, still posting with correct spelling no less, so I'd say they're all pretty good.

First, I’ll say that I agree with the OP on “session IPAs;” I have yet to find one that I really enjoy.

If the standard for Session is lower than 6%, I’d say:
Great Lakes Rally Drum Red or
    Victory Headwaters Pale Ale

Frankly, I’d say a session beer should be considered 5% or less. In that case, here are my top 5 in no particular order:
    Anchor Steam
    Goose Island Honker’s Ale
    Otter Creek Copper Ale
    Stone Levitation
    Stoudt’s American Pale Ale
