There's cases of it sitting around the Toledo area. If your close I can let you know where.

I bought a bottle of Stone Dayman for a co-worker as a thanks (she bought me a bomber of KRB Just Outstanding during her rafting trip). I could have bought more than one and had one for myself if I wanted, but I wasn't into IPAs or coffee beers at the time. It hurt just typing that. :slight_frown:

This year the whole foods near me had abyss out on shelves on thanksgiving day. They were priced for 9.99 each with no limit. The place was a madhouse and I just wanted to get the stuff I needed for our thanksgiving potluck and be on my way. I figured I could come back the next day and it would still be there. I didn't realize that the store had priced it incorrectly and that it was 1 per person elsewhere. I also thought it would just sit around like lots of the other deschutes stuff in our market. I failed, but I chalk it up to being new to the region.

I had another experience last week with a 1999 drie fonteinen oude geuze from a cellar sale. Thought 115 was way too much until I researched the beer....

I've seen both Black Note and Sucks at my local store and passed them up for something else. I'm kicking myself now.

This thread is making me sad, so I'll share an opposite story. I've been into craft beer for years, but only in the last year have I started getting into beers worth getting excited about. At a local bar, shortly after having my first run through of Firestone Walker's everyday lineup (last fall), I see a box collecting dust behind the bar, kinda tucked away almost entirely out of sight. I notice the FW logo on the box, and having never seen anything from them in a box, I ask what the deal is with it. I'm thinking it's just an empty bottle that the owner had a while back, but maybe it was something I'd want to look into later.

Turns out it was a XV, for sale, for $12, had been sitting there for two years completely unnoticed. Still knowing nothing about the beer, I take a shot on it because for $12 it can't be that bad, and it's an anniversary beer, so hopefully it'll be pretty good. Get the bottle home, read the list of different beers that went into the blend, and recognizing only a couple names, and having not ever had a blend with so many ingredients, I start to wonder what I might have wasted $12 on. When I finally open my 2-year-old bottle of this magic elixir, all my doubts went away and to this day it is one of the best (perhaps top 5) bottles I've had.

Edit: I realize that "to this day" sounds ridiculous over a six month period, but I've had a pretty amazing six months.

I've passed up a chance at Utopias a couple times now...just can't get past the $200+ price tag. Kicked myself, but only lightly.

I don't even want to think about how much Cantillon I passed by in stores between age 21 and when I got into craft.

Moved out west through the States last January and got some amazing beers. I also chose to pass on Murda'd Out at FFF and limited myself to 1 out of the 2 bottle limit of 750 ml Black Note at Bell's. I won't mention the months of passing by Cantillon at my local shop and saying "next time," until suddenly I'm back in Cantillon-less Ontario.

A bottle of Parabola just chilling on the shelf when I was in California a couple years ago. Probably should have tried that.

That bottle of Hommage for $45 a few weeks ago that I still don't really regret not picking up... $45 is too much for any beer, imo. We're getting close to $2/ounce at that price. Some whale hunter I am...

Holy shit. That's way cheap for Love Child, even for here in Boulevard's home market. I feel your pain.

When I first started dabbling in craft beer I was in Frugal Mcdoogals in Nashville , somewhere around 2008 , had a bottle of Sam Adams Utopias in my hands , price was 149.00 , wanted to get it but at the time had no real idea of what I had , now I can only find it on the second hand market for around 300 a bottle

I had a Firestone Walker beer in the cardboard box, but I didn't get it because I thought the package was too nice - that the beer couldn't have matched the design (silly, I know). I didn't know about that brewery at all, and it was in Kentucky where they don't really distribute.

A while back I was in California ( I live in Las Vegas ) and I was starting up my craft brew experience. One of my friends who I stayed with who now lives in Washington gave me some goodies before I left it was some Stone brews and a Prairie Artisan Evil Twin Bible Belt. I was unpacking my stuff and I ended up breaking a Stone Smoked Porter and the only Prairie Bible. I didn't know much about the Prairie but now I do and regret my clumsy-ness and its not available in Nevada... and he couldn't get me another one because he no longer lives in California.

Before I had knowledge of craft beer who knows what I walked by. Now that I'm aware, I pull the trigger each and every time. I've missed beers because I was to late to a release though.
