My wife got hooked with BCBS (gee...wonder why?). She now loves Backwoods Bastard, KBS, basically any barrel aged stout...and Zombie Dust and Gumballhead. She still doesn't like hoppy things...and I can't get her interested in DIPA's :-( But getting her into craft beer has been awesome...I have someone to share those Black Tuesday's and FiftyFifty Eclipse with!!!!

Yeah, even heady did nothing to help mine with liking any kind of ipa. Apparently it's barrel aged or bust with her. Guess I'll be sharing my black note soon too. She wanted to mix some of the bcbcs with some of her chocolate cream bourbon. That's where I drew the line and became stingy. Treating bcbcs like a freaking Irish car bomb. That wasn't happening, lol.
will gladly let her drink as much as she wants otherwise.

Like many of you, I spent years offering my wife sips and tastes only to get the wrinkled up sour face. I started with just asking her to smell whatever it was I was drinking and asking her to help identify it. IPA's became a game of, "is this pine, floral, or citrus?" She still would never touch them, claiming she didn't like beer. Then the stouts started. Chocolate, malts, caramel, dates, figs, all the good stuff in a well done stout. Still though, she was only willing to sip them. As time passed she finally had to admit that sweeter stouts (think oatmeal and milk stouts) were growing on her.

After we got over the roadblock of "I don't like beer", then the transition to sours was easy. With stouts and sours in her wheelhouse now she is more willing to sample other offerings. It has almost been as fun watching her discover craft beer enjoyment as it was for me....almost.

Your wife is ahead of the curve on you in that regard. I used to hoard my BCBS for "special" occasions. Now I use my coffee press to try it with different items/flavors added and/or I mix it to make out of this world Black and Tans.

I've had it at Mekong, but that could've just been An working his magic.

Negative, I just use my RIS for experimentation. At some point this summer I'll press in some fresh Nj berries for my own backyard bcbs. Those I'd be less stingy on than my bcbcs. Toasted coconut is a favorite to press in as well.

Congrats to the OP and to the rest of you BA's that were able to get your significant others to get into your favorite hobby/passion: craft beer!
Can't get my wife to like any of them, so far.
We think she may have some kind of allergy to certain malt drinks though; however she just went to a wine tasting yesterday (which was unplanned, or so I am told ) and came home with a sweet wine, which she swears taste just like a chewy candy she loves and buys in Japan (at EPCOT) every time we go to Disney, which will be in a few days again.

So far, the only beer my wife has liked was a local brew she had at a banquet in rural Fujian province in southern China. I'm sure I can get plenty of that, no problemo. Right?

Ha, I've gone through the same. My wife ended up loving stouts, particularly the BA and coffee stouts. Sours are straight out, reminds her too much of fruit vinegar, even though I love the crap out of them.

Not dating anyone ever again that doesn't know what I mean when I talk about "IPA's" or "mash-in temps".

My wife loves Belgians, imperial stouts and sours. She'll drink German beers, but most lagers and lighter beers don't interest her, as she finds them weak. The only roadblock is that she can't stand IPAs, and claims she is hop-sensitive. Regardless, there's usually something on tap anywhere we go that she enjoys.

Why would you want to share the expensive tasty goodness when you could just buy a cheap bottle of wine and be done with it? My husband would be doing a happy dance if I didn't like craft beer! Because then I couldn't drink his.

My first bar experience with my wife (then girlfriend) showed her to be a beer lover. While the rest of her friends were drinking Smirnoff Ice, she had a local oatmeal stout in front of her. I knew then I had the pick of the litter.

The only problem is that now I get these text messages when I'm working late saying things like: "I'm drinking the St. Bernadus 12 with dinner tonight honey," or "I hope you didn't want that sour we got last month..."
