    Hello BA community,

So my dad shipped me some heady topper and a couple of Lunch this week for graduation through UPS. However it appears that the package was damanged and "all merchandise was discarded." Im assuming one or more of the Lunch bottles broke, but canned HT should be fine. Anyway, is there anything to be done of this or is it just a lost cause at this point? Feedback much appreciated.

UPS worker found beer and "damaged it" by drinking it is my theory. I'm pretty sure you can't do much without admiting your dad was shipping beer. Sorry for your loss.

Pretty much a lost cause. I had this happen on one of my first trades, but it was only one bottle that broke. UPS actually repacked it and sent it back to me, but I was informed that due to my packaging error that I couldn't make a claim and I ended up having to pay to have it shipped again. I was pretty upset since I packed it well and I knew they had to have hammered the hell out of it for breakage. Your case seems a bit different though, almost like the driver was a craft beer fan and took the undamaged goods for themselves. Seems odd that every single item was damaged, I mean what did they do? Run it over with the truck? I'd contact their support to ask, but I had no luck with mine and ate the double shipping charge. The beer was not an issue since it was a throw in anyway.

Sadly it's gone, never to be seen again. You can't claim damages on something that was illegal to ship to begin with.

So it wouldn't be possible for me to go to the UPS location and pick up the non-damanged items? It made it all the way to austin but appears to have been damaged in transit...

I've had this happen before and UPS removed to broken bottles, repackaged, and returned the box to the sender.

I don't think it's a complete lost cause... There is a lesson one can learn from this.

I just got a very wet package form the USPS and they did not steal any beer from it. Nor did they ask me any questions about it. They did make me go pick it up at the most inconvenient location though. Smelled like stout alright and was soaking and dripping with all the beautiful stuff. I think it just depends on who is handling it.

"All merchandise was discarded" means exactly what it sounds like means.

That's why I always wrap the bottle in something then put it in a ziploc bag. That way if it breaks, theoretically the glass won't puncture the bag, and it'll still make it, dry. Theoretically of course.

Sorry for your loss. That sucks. :slight_frown:

Ya gotta sorry for your loss! Heady is a great beer but I'll lie to you and say lunch sucks if that helps?

I'd make my dad watch a 30 minute Facetime presentation on packaging beer for safe delivery while having to drink High Life.

I think it's a bit absurd to suggest the driver stole the remaining product. They don't have any protocol as to what to do in that situation, but I'd imagine the driver picked the box up, got stinky beer all over him, was pissed, and just chunked it. I doubt he was like "Hell yes, there might be Heady in here" and tore into it in search of a whale. UPS drivers aren't mastermind criminals looking to score craft beer. Not any I've ever seen anyway.

Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. Only lost 2 beers out of 14 and delivery was only delayed by 1 business day.

Maybe "dad" is the criminal mastermind. He shipped a box of old cracked glass bottles of Zima he found in the garage.

This happened to another friend who shipped Heady back from Vermont. Seems like Heady disappears during shipping more than other beers.
