Around here it's AC Golden CTAYT. It is/was somewhat expensive ($20-25) but damn if it isn't one of the best BA stouts around. While the usual "it's just Coors" stuff got posted in the usual places, bottles of it more or less disappeared.
I walked past a bottle of it last month (18 months after it hit shelves) only to see it disappear overnight, too.

No offense meant to the OP, but does anyone else strongly dislike the term "shelf turd"? We are talking about good beer right?

I actually don't fully understand what a Shelf Turd is. I had a bottle of Ballast Point's Victory At Sea w/ coffee and someone referred to it as their favorite shelf turd.

It seems like shelf turd means a generally good beer that sits on the shelves for a long time, for whatever reason. I think a good example of this is the Eclipse series- they're all pretty good beers, but they sit for a while around here because of the price.

While that term makes it sound like the beer isn't any good, it usually just refers to a bottle that sits on shelves without moving. Maybe a beer that was cool at one time and is now neglected, maybe one that is overpriced, and maybe one that the general public just isn't ready for. Cantillon is the old favorite example. It used to be on shelves EVERYWHERE for years, but at $15-30 per bottle people just weren't ready for "that expensive vinegar-like stuff" back in the early 2000's.

A couple months back I picked up one of GI's bottles of Nightstalker from 2012. Wasn't amazing, but was still pretty solid.

Well.... given that definition. I picked up a four pack of Founder's Breakfast Stout this past weekend. There were two packs. Got home and discovered the bottled on date was October 2012. Don't know if the aging hurt or hindered the flavor.

Not exactly a rare beer, but I found 4-packs of 2010 Bigfoot at my local store the other day.

Oh, also I'm still seeing Goose Island Pere Jacques from 2009 and 2010. Given that it's not even 9% I doubt it's still good 5 years on.
