Nice and easy as its only Tuesday but I can taste that long weekend already!

 

This has been a tough work week already. That should have read no new beer TUESDAY. Lol.

 

And now for something completely different finch's secret stache stout mmm mmm bitch it's good ( sorry must be the meade talking)

 

Backwoods Bastard and Schlafly's Spiced Stout

Happy/sad that I live in Chicago and don't have access to this all the time. It's soooo good.

Homebrew club tonight. Turns out I am brewing a RIS in July. Club got hold of a 55 gallon Bourbon barrel again, and we just threw 55 gallons of Michigan cider in it today. We will put a 11 split batch of the same recipe in there in late August.

Beers:
Very solid standard blond ale. Lemon, pear, apple, cracker, bready grain, light toast, floral, grass, and herbal earthiness. Well balanced and crisp. Solid robustness of flavor. Run of the mill blonde, but it meets the style.


Solid Helles. Lemon, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, grass, light fruitiness, and yeast earthiness. Well balanced, minimal bitterness. I felt the malt character was definitely lacking but otherwise a good example.


Rum spiral Strong ale? This is quite nice. Caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown sugar, light chocolate, vanilla, rum, oak and a bit of moderate fig/raisins. Very tasty and unique.

1) Boneyard RPM IPA - awesome! For those who haven't tried Boneyard and can, their IPAs are seriously awesome - especially the Hop Venom.

2) Deschutes Abyss 2009 on tap! Keg was tapped Thursday as part of a Deschutes event for Beer Week at a local brewpub - surprised they still had some...




3) Now on to an Evil Twin - Aun Mas Café Jesus at home - simply delicious!
