do i post the idea here and see if it would garner interest? or do i start it and see if it gains interest? i dont want to step on any toes here!
Yeah! Post it here and see if it garners interest. I've seen BIF ideas get zero interest and immediate interest.
bif idea. 12 members random generation of numbers 1-12 person who gets #1 send ONE beer. person who gets #12 sends 12 beers. the catch? #1's beer MUST be between 99 & 100 on the rating scale. #2 97-98 #3 96-97 #4 95-96 #5 94-95 #6 93-94 #7 92-93 #8 91-92 #9 90-91 #10 89-90 #11 88-89 #12 87-88 Once numbers are chosen, a random draw of who you ship to will be completed. so.. #2 could be sending to #1 #12 could be sending to #11 #1 could be sending to #6 you never know. the ONLY thing i can see being an issue is someone paying to ship 1 bottle. but.. it may end up being worth it in the long run.
I love the creativity, but that seems a bit complicated ... and the way I've seen BIFs go around here, no one would get anything resembling the predetermined assortment. #12 would wind up sending a dozen beers in the mid 90s, #1 would send a 99 and also half a dozen 93s and a 4pk of 89, something like that. I certainly don't hate it, but I see it quickly devolving into more of a swtfyw-style bif pretty quick (not that there's anything wrong with that either)
Perhaps, just my .02... there's also nothing wrong with people 'beating' the layout, but that'd drive my OCD a little nuts. Sadly I have to pass whether I want to or not, I'm a little bit grounded by Mrs LehighAce right now... I guess I should keep future trades/BIFs to no more than 2 or 3 at a time, I think 8 boxes being packed at once was a bit much
It kinda was... 3 trades, 3 BIFs, and 2 people that posted a "Top 10 want" was something very obtainable that I had in the fridge... if I can help you cross off a legit Top 10 that easily? Why not
I top 10 want everything in Pennsylvania distribution that is delicious and in your fridge. I top 10 want the shit out of it.
That only works if you'd declared it a Top 10 want before you knew I was doing that... I also cut myself off at 3 offers (one was turned down)
There was recently an ISO for a "6 bottle mystery shipper" that people were jumping all over. That makes me think people really want simpler BIFs. I think this would struggle to get interest.
That's kinda what I was getting at. The math-oriented OCD side of my brain loves this idea, but at the same time I can't see myself participating.
How about dropping the maximum and keeping the minimum ? ie: #6 93+ #7 92+ #8 91+ #9 90+ #10 89+ or change the spread and limit participation to six(6) #1's beer MUST be between 96& 100 on the rating scale. #2 94+ #3 92+ #4 90+ #5 88+ #6 86+
