Duck Dog Gooze LIF

Many months ago I traded a beer for several DDG with the promise that one of the DDG would go to benefit an animal shelter. Unfortunately my last dog, Abita (yes, named after Turbo Dog for her lighting fast speed) passed away unexpectedly. After grieving for several months, my wife and I decided to turn a negative into a positive and give another dog a new life.

We searched multiple animal shelters and pounds for a dog that we thought would fit our one cat, 2 human family. Although many shelters need money and support we decided to adopt a dog from the Palo Pinto County Humane Society. Palo Pinto is a very rural county outside of Ft Worth, TX. Unfortunately they have a higher kill rate than most urban county animal shelters due to the lack of funding and adoptions. As much as we would have liked to support our own county, we chose Palo Pinto due to the reasons stated above.

Below is our lovely addition to the family, Bambi (~2 yrs old). No we didn't name her and no she won't dance for you, even for a bone. The name wasn't our decision so save the jokes . She was 2 days away from being put to sleep before she was rescued by a Palo Pinto Human Society foster parent. Now she's all ours!

I can't tell you how much every penny means to this humane society. We gave an extra $70 for the adoption fee and the rep almost cried. I'd like to keep this simple and raise a small amount of money for a great cause. I can promise you they will be grateful at the little we raise.

We are raffling off a Duck Duck Gooze (latest batch), RR Beatification B5, Darkness '13 and 3 locals. To keep it simple and increase everyone's odds of winning I am asking for $20 per person with one entry per person. I will end the raffle at $600, which is 30 people. In other words, everyone has a 1 in 30 chance of winnning! I will post a video of the drawing. No time line is set; when we hit 30 donations of $20, it will be over. If I am unavailable at the time the 30th person donates and we have a few extra donations, I will try to add some wants for the winner. I will do my best to keep it as close to 30 as possible but either way this about helping animals in need, not the beer.

First class is a stretch but thanks I truly hope no one is donating just for the beer, the innocent animals are the reason everyone should donate. The beers are just our way of saying thank you.

We are also almost half way there in just under 12 hours! We have a total of 12 donations so far.

 

A very generous BA, mj0126, has offered to donate a box of MA locals that may include beers from Jacks Abbey, Trillium, Worm Town, Night Shift, Cambridge Brewing,Berkshire Brewing, etc.

This box will go to the 2nd name I draw. Thanks a ton Marc!
