It seems that there are quite a few great stouts that use chiles to add flavor or some lingering spice to the sip. I love the flavor, especially when it complements bourbon & vanilla. Some of my favorites are:
    • Westbrook Mexican Cake
    • Prairie Bomb!
    • Perennial Abraxas
    • Cigar City Hunahpu
    • New Holland Dragon's Milk Brewer's Reserve w/ Ancho Chiles
Any others worth looking into? Thoughts on these?

If you can track one down, you NEED to pick up Space Ghost from Central Waters. Best Chile Stout I've had (it doesn't have the vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa or anything, but it's stellar).

Second the space ghost, outstanding beer. Dragon's milk reserve with ancho chillies is great. Tyranena brewers gone wild benjis smoked imperial porter with chipotles is great too.

Bomb! seemed to be lacking in the chile flavor this year in the few of bottles I had, while the Bible Belt collaboration seemed to have a lot more pronounced chile flavor than I was anticipating.

I personally LOVED Elysian Peste a couple years back. But I love being burned alive when I eat / drink.

I think it caught a bad rap and hasn't been made since, though I could be wrong. I had it on tap and it was glorious, randomly found a bottle in Philly months later and thought the same.

Does this one use Ghost peppers? Sounds really spicy.

Yes, I believe it was Ghost peppers used. It's spicy, but not undrinkable by any means. Just a nice heat in the throat mainly.

I can get ya some Swamp Head Catherine's Resentment if you want some. Just released, has coconut and chile peppers. A bit more heat than Hunahpu or Bomb but a pretty good brew.

That sounds pretty solid. I'm not normally a spice kinda guy... but I really seem to like it in a good stout.

Mexican Chocolate Stout from Copper Kettle in Denver is one of my favorites, but has a pretty limited distro.

How easy is this beer to get in areas where it is distributed? I had one this weekend and thought it was incredible, but unfortunately we don't get Prairie beer here. If this stuff was on the shelf I might not drink anything else.

How hot is Mexican Cake? I love chile-infused stouts and this is one that continues to elude me (and frustrate me because I can't seem to make a trade for it). Huna and Abraxas were smoooooooth as silk. Would love to try Cake but it's not THAT hot, is it (I know this is subjective question)? I mean, we're not talking hot like CRIME and PUNISHMENT hot - not that level of heat, right?

It sold out fast around KC in liquor stores. They had bottles at an obscure bar I was randomly at and I was shocked. $15 a pop but I accept for that beer. Love me some big boy stouts with a bunch of stuff in it.
