Top 3 IPAs

    So yes, I know these threads get repeated and it's top 1 or 5 or ten. But I post this because I have come to the conclusion that there are 3 IPA's that pretty much dominate overall amongst us beer nerds. They are, in no particular order:

    Heady Topper
    Pliny the Elder
    Dirtwolf

    My question is to those who have had all 3. Are these YOUR top 3? Do you think other IPA's deserve a place in the top 3?

    I just had Dirtwolf for the 1st time and it did NOT disappoint. I have yet, however, to try the Heady.

    If were going double ipas id have to agree with heady and pliny...would replace dirtwolf with HF society and solitude #6, though

    I had no idea Dirtwolf was one of the top three, Abrasive is number one by the way!

    Dirtwolf? Really? Its a damn good beer, but absent the hype and fan fare of the prior 2. My 3 (that I've actually had):

    1. Nelson
    2. Pliney the Elder
    3. OC/Lawson's Double Dose

    Yes, the posts are silly. I realize that. However, I agree with the top 3 I posted. I am looking for another IPA that blows me away. That's all.

    In addition, taste is obviously subjective.

    I thought Hop Ranch was better than Dirtwolf.

    Trade for Surly Abrasive, next season... It is out from late late fall to spring. You will not be disappointed, and if you are then you do not like beer:wink: kidding of course.

    Hopslam
    Sucks

    My favorite 3, since DIPA' s seem to be on the table.

    Never heard of Surly. Just looked it up. 100 on BA. NICE! Never traded. Not sure how this works. Being in Florida, not much to offer.

    The really highly regarded ones, like Lawson's Double Sunshine or Alpine Nelson, aren't widely distributed so you will have to trade for them. The Double Sunshine is far and away the best one I have ever had, fwiw, although there are still quite a few from the west coast I haven't yet had.

    Dirt Wolf is definitely great for an IPA with pretty wide distribution.

    There is a board in the trading forums where you could ask general questions like that; it's better to ask the experienced traders.

    You actually have access to great beers in Florida. Try trading some CCB for your wants.
