Good craft Pils? Czech style even better

    So my good friend tries everything I open with him. He says everytime "Why don't they make good Pils?" Please help lead me in the direction of some people. Would really like to surprise him with a box. Not afraid of trading to get what I am after either.

    Oskar Blues Mama's Little Yellow Pils is a very good American version on a Czech pils.

    Not Czech, but Austin Beerworks makes a decent German style. It's called Pearlsnap.

    Prima Pils is German-style pilsner, I believe. It is one of my favorite brews, though.

    For a great Czech pils that's widely available, one of my favorites is Great Lakes The Wright Pils.

    Looking at what is available in Oklahoma, I'd try Left Hand Polestar and North Coast Scrimshaw. Both are listed here as German rather than Czech.

    Pivo Hoppy Pils (Firestone Walker) and Berkshire Czech Pilsner (Berkshire Brewing Co.), are two that I enjoyed. I have heard about Schlafly Pilsner being good; but, I have not had it.

    TROEGS SUNSHINE PILS, TROEGS SUNSHINE PILS, TROEGS SUNSHINE PILS, AND TROEGS SUNSHINE PILS

    Okay, it's German-style rather than Czech-style, but in my opinion it's high up the food chain as far as German pilsners go. Crisp and bone-dry yet somewhat complex. Plus, cans. You should have no trouble trading for it either *cough :wink:*

    Creemore Lager out of Ontario is neither technically craft nor technically a pils, but it's a delicious, crisp, well-rounded lager with Czech hops up front. Worth trying to sneak in on him... Pils malt isn't the be-all-end-all, you know :slight_smile:

    echo berkshire. trade for it when it comes out if it's not in your distribution area; it's a "shelf beer," any local thing should get it. great great summer beer.

    personally, i also love anything by stoudts, and southampton keller pils.
