Like I said the natural english went fantastically with funk, both tbe wrapper and the beer tasted of blueberrys and sweet citrus, great pairing imo

Stone Brewing's website has a cigar pairing in their beer descriptions. I used to enjoy pipe tobacco with a good beer. Some of those raisiny, coffee sweet blends were delicious with pretty much any beer.

Agreed. Love cigars but cannot smoke them unless I'm not drinking beer for the rest of the day. My taste buds are finished after a stick and there's no need to waste a perfectly good beer. Cigars and Whiskey on the other hand...

My favorite combo was Perdomo 10 Champagne with Ten Fidy. The cedar of the smoke acted like a mild barrel aging that the straight big stout Ten Fidy doesn't have and, if they ever cedar aged Ten Fidy it could be magical!

A good imperial stout and a Cohiba Black do the trick nicely for me.

I find a good Maduro wrapped cigar goes amazingly well with smooth imperial stouts. AJ Fernandez and Don Pepin both have some very good (affordable) sticks that match up well with say a Darkness, Yeti, Guinness ect. Give it a go! Had an AJ F. Ave Maria Churchill yesterday with a Mayan Mocha, aaaamazing!!! The pepper in the beer combined with the smoke gave the aftertaste a little kick.

I have a Diesel sampler waiting for Friday and I will be sitting on my deck enjoying a beer, a cigar, and a book on Friday night.

i could see a big boozy barrel aged beer going well with a cigar. prob leaning toward the malty side, but not sure how well hops would play. got me curious now, experiment for the weekend!

Diesel cigars are my fav..I try tend to not smoke with trying something new...but sometimes it just really hits the spot...nothing like a nice night, good cigar, and some good craft beers!

I agree with these guys in if you have both a good/decent palate for cigars and beer it can be a great pairing. The only beer I avoid with cigars are hoppy pales/IPA's/etc. However, even the hoppy imperial stouts don't bother me.

If you are new to cigars or only have them on a special/rare occasion, I can totally see your taste buds being overwhelmed. However, for those of us who have hundreds to thousands of cigars in our collections, I doubt you'll see us complaining about pairing the two.

Oh, and if you haven't ever had a good rum (Ron Zacapa) with a cigar, you really should. I didn't even like rum until I paired it with a cigar.

Cigars and beer? Yes, please! I feel funny without a decent smoke when I am enjoying fine craft beer. Someone will say, well that's bad for you. My response is... Everything is bad for you. Healthy people die everyday. Enjoy life!

Hey guys! I am going away next week to spend a week in the mountains cutting firewood, riding four-wheelers, shooting guns, and, of course, drinking copious amounts of beer. My question for you guys is, can you give me a recommendation for a great sipping beer to go along with an evening cigar? I'm a big fan of weizens, pale ales, IPAs, and (recently) stouts.

    Thanks,
    Nick

An imperial stout like old rasputin would do the trick, especially with a nice leathery cigar.

Not sure how good any pale ale or IPA goes with a cigar. I'd stay with the dark and heavy stuff (just hope it isn't too warm in the mountains).

    Aventinus Weizen-Eisbock
    Dogfish Palo Santo Marron
    Any imperial stout
Any bourbon barrel aged imperial stout

I almost always have cigars with a stout. There are so many good barrel aged stouts and oatmeal stouts which are my first choice for their silky sweetness. I just as a rule stay away from hoppy beers which I don't go well with a cigar.

If you like the IPAs try Burton Baton from DFH i could see that going well with a nicely paired cigar

If I'm smoking a mild cigar, I'll have an IPA or, more likely, a sour. But any darker smoke (Cameroon or Maduro) will kill the favors of an IPA. If your in the woods, go get a nice Connecticut wrapped cigar and drink what you want. Enjoy!
