Yeah I thought I remember numbers being called with the names also. I def remember knowing approximately where the line was, number wise, throughout pretty much the whole waiting period. Granted you couldn't hear from the back but all you had to do was ask and the people in front of you would pass it on. I think it's ridiculous all the finger pointing people do, asking others to do this or do that to make MY experience better, especially when the things they are asking for were already in place and they just weren't taking advantage of them. Now granted I've bitched about a beer release before too. I was at Huna Day 2012 and thought it was a train wreck (and that's before things got 'bad' which says something), full of line jumping, wasted bros, and an overall incredibly rude crowd and (from my experience) rude staff. I saw none of that at BA Cake day, and thus have no complaints.

It's funny, shortly after the BA Cake release, there was nothing but praise. Everyone seemed stoked that Westbrook handled SC's first major release so well. Now people start complaining? I don't get it. I just hope they can handle the next one as well. Much more hype and what seems to be more Cap'n Ahabs around though. Could get volatile, but I would hope that it doesn't.

Like I said, I thought last years was about as ideal a release as possible.

Unfortunately, I can't imagine a situation in which this years BA MC release isnt a huge cluster fuck. Im generally an optimist, and I have faith that Westbrook has the ability to run a great release (because I have seen it before). But when you consider the daily increasing hype, as well as the exponential growth of the crowd at the regular Cake release this year as compared to last year, and Im fearing its going to be a disaster.

Is anyone else as disgusted with Westbrook Brewery as I am for running out of the bottled Mexican Cake in 2 hours on the first day of release? My mule was in line and drove 4 hours to get some only to be shut out. Boo Hoo!

What they should have done is sent a survey to the entire beer drinking universe and reserved enough for each person so that no matter what anyone who could possibly be coming would have gotten exactly the same amount as everyone.

And maybe they should have also had a free diaper change, a wubby and a nipple with each bottle

But that would hurt its trade value

Everything is terrible and the world will devolve into anarchy if someone doesn't get what they want. Human sacrifice! Dogs and cats, living together! Mass hysteria!

Sorry kids, not everyone gets a 1st place trophy. I'm not upset that Lost Abbey didn't bend over backwards to accommodate my desire to get a bottle of Duck Duck Geuze. I didn't get there at the right time, oh well. I don't get a trophy or medal for traveling across the country. Worst case scenario I try and trade for one or just wait for next time and hope to do better on the opportunity. They owe me nothing unless they officially declared or transacted such that they owe me something.

And just because I'm the nicest guy typing this post right now, The Charleston Beer Exchange has bottles at a 3 Limit right now. So if you have mules, get them there.

Just don't fucking bitch about how horrible the Beer Exchange is if you or your mules don't get there in time to get any.

GBX had theirs yesterday for the Upstate, 2 per. And Community Tap already got theirs in, 3 per. Green's on Congaree gets their allotment in tomorrow for sale, 2 PM and 2 per. There ya go. Get yours at Green's in the Upstate, tomorrow, if you still need them.

GOOD! I'm glad! Sick of non-locals acting like they're entitled to something. You're NOT!

Neither are the locals. The only people that are entitled to something is the brewery in that they are entitled to sale their beer however the heck it is they want to. I'd agree that it makes more sense to make sure to reward the locals for supporting the brewery, but there's been at least one brewery (not Westbrook) that ran a release in the last couple weeks that didn't exactly see it that way and that's their right as well.

I don't really see any locals complaining about this year's release. That's all.

I was at the release last year and thought it went very smoothly. Westbrook could avoid this mess by releasing the bottles early. I believe the release was in the middle of July, but were actually bottled on June 6th. How about quietly announcing the release about 5am on a Tuesday (so us locals can call in sick! :stuck_out_tongue:) when no one is expecting it? Just throwing my 2 cents around here....

No, you're just complaining about non-locals complaining. Point is, -no one- is entitled to the output of any brewery, other than the brewery itself.

Marley, locals aren't entitled as well. The only thing they are entitled with is not having to drive far, or use a GPS to find said brewery.

And by the way.. you aren't that good at hiding under a new name.

Exactly, no one is entitled to anything a brewery produces. Get that out of your head, everyone, and things go down a lot smoother. The next step is to accept the fact that not everyone will get every beer they want. There will always be a douche hoarder, always people looking to make a buck, and always people who just love the beer so much they need a case a week. Get past all that, and maybe everyone can realize that 50,000 people wanting beer that's in at best 1000 bottles means the majority of those people are shut out. I don't see why no one can grasp this. It's simple math.
