They are launching a kickstarter soon. IDK...I don't get the appeal to it really...
Basically you fill up these 128oz pouches that are inside of a box, they call the entire thing a cartridge. Then you put the cartridge in the fridge, or directly in the dispenser. The cartridge can keep beer pressurized, and can be filled from a keg, draught, or a finishing tank according to the page.

Well, the catridges are not re-usable, and probably not even legal to get filled at your local breweries.

Homebrewing could work if you are able to carbonate inside the cartridges. I'd buy one to test it out if that's possible as long as it's cheap enough.

But if you already have a kegging system then there's no need for this that I can possibly see. Maybe easier time shipping, but both parties would need the system for that to work. If I had a kegging system and wanted to ship some homebrew I'd just bottle a couple from the keg with a bottle filling adapter, not a big deal.

Maybe if you could fill these up at breweries with no problem it would be something worthwhile, I just don't see this happening though.

I'm curious what those bags are made out of -- and if the material will leave an odor or taste on the beer inside it, since it looks like plastic or something. also, since you use a new bag each time I wonder how much a new bag is.

I read a press release and they said it was around the same price as bottles for homebrewers.
Using that as a guide, 48 bottles is around 30 bucks at my LHBS. I certainly don't want to spend that much extra for every homebrew batch, I bought them since I recently got back into brewing but I saved most of them and replaced the missing ones with commercial bottles I've been saving, so it's going to add up quite a bit.

So it's bag in a box but with a slightly sturdier box than normal?

No those are just the cartridges. The other half is the tap it comes with and hooks up to. It is is small and can sit right on your counter, voila, your own little kegerator if you will. With none of the adaptability however, though it has a much greater portability and is probably much easier to maintain.

i....kinda like this idea. its good for homes. and uses minimal counter space compared to fridge space.

if breweries were keen to keeping the adapter on hand, this could work.

This is just the variant of the system that Bud put out in test markets, the Draftmark System. Failed here in Chicago market, they pulled out in less than 6 months

Not sure how this will play out. Big question mark is cost of bags and the dispenser which it sounds like you need to if you want to drink your beer, or you could just pop a straw into it and go all capri-sun on it. Also will breweries/bars/tasting rooms want to fill these as I'm guessing they could pop/explode if over filled. Filling issues also a concern.

Nice Idea but I just don't see it working.

So I buy this system and then have to continually resupply the bags I need in order to use your product. Sounds like an Apple product. I like the simple glass/ stainless growlers enough to not need to purchase bags over and over again. A simple rinse and upside down dry isn't THAT difficult...

They need to make a tap machine that you can shove a growler into.

easy to ship and trade sounds promising.

depending on price point I'd like a personal kegorator and essentially any beer I want on tap at home.

also why can't we reuse bags?

This will be cost prohibitive all the way around. 11 beers?

They can't keep selling you something that way. Same with the Draftmark system. I also see the different state growler and to go laws becoming a huge issue with realistically getting a brewery or brewpub to fill this thing for you.

Seems a little to close to boxed wine for my taste, I agree with the growler dispenser machine idea...get on it!

Hi Everyone, Steve from SYNEK here, thank you for all the interest and feedback, let me clarify a few initial questions that arose. We will be publishing a full FAQ page shortly.
    • @jivex5k @beatenbyjacks @rather - The bags are reusable, however we would not recommend that for two reasons: 1) the outer layer is metallic and opaque which deflect UV rays, but makes identifying impurities harder, 2) we will have a specialized nylon layer which extracts O2 for max quality, this barrier becomes less effective with each use
    • @Rekrule @jivex5k - Laws differ from every state, but according to our initial research, SYNEK should be legal in 80% of the states and 75% of the countries worldwide. When we rollout in each state/country, we will ensure that these breweries are all abiding to their local laws
    • @Mineo @jivex5k - Will reveal the pricing soon, but the dispenser will cost less than $399, cartridges will cost~$5 and are reusable (just not recommended).
    • @Hanglow - A multi layer bag that is O2 deprived, extracts O2, maintains pressure, and will give you barrier qualities similar/better than bottles.
I hope this provides a little color, again I really appreciate the feedback. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
