    Hello BA's,

Planning on heading south to SD and would love to make a stop over to Alpine, but would rather not take that long detour. I was wondering if anyone know a good bottle shop that carries their brews. Please advice if you guys know a good spot. Thanks!

hahahahahah. Yeah, when it comes to Alpine, you can't really depend on any one shop to have it in stock. The only real way to make sure you get bottles is to go to Alpine.

The amount of time you will spend going from bottle shop to bottle shop trying to look for the beer is probably going to be twice the time it'll take you to go directly out of the way to Alpine and get the bottles.

I heard of this one spot but I'd rather not tell you.

Since this is an Alpine thread, figured I could ask here:

Are Alpine bottles available for purchase from the Pub or just the Brewery?

When are the brewery is open, you can only purchase bottles there. When they close, they usually sell bottles in the brew pub but they sell out quickly.

You can get them at the pub when the brewery is closed. Sometimes.

Thanks for the replies about bottles. Reason I'm asking is I'll be in SD in July for a conference. I'm thinking the conference will let out around 4:00 most days and was wondering if I needed to make the trip to be at the brewery before they close at 6:00 to get bottles or if I could show up at the brew pub after 6:00, eat dinner and also get a few bottles then as well. Sounds like it's just hit and miss at the brew bub, but that answers my question. Thanks!

OP: it's not that long a detour, especially considering what it takes to drive from one end of SD to the other anyway.

Trust me, just make the trip.

I'm heading up there. From the posts i've read over the last few weeks, the fact that Alpine is a long drive is something of a myth.

I wouldn't say it's a myth, exactly. It's certainly worth the drive, but the city of San Diego, and the county for that matter, are incredibly sprawling. People who live in Oceanside, San Marcos, Carlsbad, etc are San Diegans (at least in my mind), and it's a pretty far drive from those cities to Alpine. It all depends on where you're staying. It's still at least 30 minutes from downtown, and some would argue you can still get really good beer without having to drive *that far*. All that being said, I like driving, and if I want something bad enough, I'm willing to drive out and get it. Alpine is worth the drive, but it is kind of far.

Thanks for the input everyone... I'm probably going to just hit up Alpine first then make our way back south to SD. This will be my first time visiting Alpine. Might drop some big $$$ on my first visit... funds may be depleted and cooler may be packed before I even visit other breweries. We'll see.

Luckily for you they typically have 3 bottle limits on the big 3 and depending on when you are there they have been out of bottles for short periods of one of them. Growlers, on the other hand... thats a different story. Check their facebook page. If you dont want to be suprised/dissapointed.
