A friend of mine posted an article about this device on FB, and I thought it would be pretty cool considering the amount of amazing beer in 12 oz cans available now.

Not even once. If I'm outside I'll stick with my cooler and $0.99 bags ice, if I'm inside I'll use my refrigerator which I'm paying to run whether or not beverages are in there. This is a really expensive solution to a problem that just doesn't exist.

    Oh good, it's on sale.

Anyone know what to use to dig through granite?

Now if I can connect that bad boy to my basement fridge, we'll have something.

I'd say the level of stupidity in our world has hit a new high.

Never mind just read the post on GMO corn and some other cancer/brain tumor causing stuff in some beers.

In ground cooler you've been one up'd in the stupid dept.

It's just frivolous, silly, and fun. I'd rather spend $349 on good beer!

For $600 I'll supply the cooler, dig the hole, and install the unit. In cases where dynamite is necessary (ie granite) cost may be extra.

The fact that they have come this far (i.e. what looks like a well engineered unit and a good looking website) tells you they believe a number of folks will buy it.

Wow, I can't believe how legit that website is for trying to sell something so idiotic... I bet a jam 2 ft down would be fun to deal with, especially if all your beers were stuck in there...lol

    A little comparison:

    My beer fridge cost: $350
    Capacity: about 72 beers
Cost to run: $50 a year?
Drawbacks: It's out in a 3 season room so I have to unplug it over the winter.

    This contraption cost: $350
Capacity: looks like about 24 beers
    Cost to run: nothing.
Drawbacks: Need to dig a hole and worry about hitting something underground.
Have some doubt about "frost free in the winter" [I'm in the Northeast]
Need to go outside [rain or shine, hot or cold] every time I want a beer.

    WINNER: My beer fridge.

But, something tells me it will sell. After all, wine drinkers didn't need a fancy ass corkscrew, did they?

I'm sure they will sell a few of them to some people who are more into the novelty than need or functionality.

I bet a landscapers or pool/patio contractor with some sales skills, could convince some clients to add this onto a bigger project. Think about it... a client is spending thousands of dollars on a new pool/patio, and for an extra couple hundred more they could have this unique item professionally installed... for some people it would be an easy up-sell.
