I've had a few beers that I consider similar to Permanent Funeral: Galactic Double Daisy Cutter and a newer version of Navaja (both by Half Acre) spring to mind, among others.

First question is: Has anyone run into a decently easy to get year-round brew similar? I assume nothing exactly the same, but something with a similar hop and malt profile?

Second question is: I've read that PF using Citra hops, but I've also read Galaxy. I thought I tasted Galaxy hops in there; does anyone know what the hops used in the beer are, for sure?

Haven't had Permanent Funeral (stupid me when I was there)...but I do know that Knee Deep Simtra is a tasty beer. Assuming spicoli00 has had them both, I'd pick up a Simtra!

i have had both. good to have friends in cali.

the PF is like a big boy zombie dust. IMO, simtra is one of the closer beers that i personally have tried but i'll wager that there are others.

Try Deal with the Devil from 18th Street Brewery, the brewery is a little farther from 3Floyds. Also, when I drank PF I pickup on the Citra hops but I don't know about the others.

Find a Citra brew that's 8% or so and you got it.

Haymarket Mathias is spot on and usually on draught. Not today of course, but pretty regularly and very, very close.

It was bottled way back in the day. Was great then, too.
