I didn't have time to take pictures, but I decided to try the Früh Bock from The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery.

    Here is my review:

A generous gift from Mark! Dated 4/21/14 -Poured into a DFH Tulip

A - Pours a gorgeous, golden color with a thin, white head. Visibly well-carbonated and it leaves no lacing on the glass.

S - The nose reveals a doughy aroma upfront followed by some white pepper, lemon zest, and hint of grass. Smells very light.

T - The flavors that jump out at me right away are that of bread, sweet malts, and grass. There is a touch of sweetness and banana-like flavor on the finish.

M - Crisp and refreshing with a moderate carbonation on the palate. No bite.

O - This beer would be fantastic on a hot summer day! It reminds me of a pilsner, but with more complexity. I'm glad I had the chance to try this. Per the BA's request, I was to drink it with spicy food, but I was curious and it was almost time to hit the bed. Solid offering!

Very informative and well written! I loved '12 while '13 is too young to tell.

Actually it's not, that was the carbonation of the beer. I had hand washed it before that pic. So fuck off outta here.

    Good evening fellow NBSers,

It's a late one for me this Sunday. I made the two hour drive down to my folks' place since my brother and his family were coming over for the weekend from the coast. I hadn't seen them since January so a get-together was overdue. Yesterday we went on a picnic at Hat Rock on the Oregon side of the Columbia. That night we killed the fatted calf (actually just some tri-tip on the grill) and paired it with a Leonetti cab my Dad had been saving since the mid-00s - hella smooth stuff at this point. Although I also had a G & T, I wasn't able to grab a beer until I got back home tonight.

I decided to make up for lost time and went with a 4 yr old barleywine from Ninkasi:

Not bad, but surprisingly "hot" despite it's age. When fresh this must have been a hop beast!

Don't give up hope, search the Trade Forums - there's folks who'd probably trade a couple of bottles for something you can get off the shelves or find more easily than they can where KBS is distributed. Best of luck!

Sadly, it's a bit of a non-flyer for me. I generally have to leave for work at 5:30 AM, which lends itself to neither cooking breakfast nor drinking beer.

My new beers today were Samuel Smiths India Ale (yea, never had it!); FW Double Jack - Proprietors Reserve and MY NEW IMPERIAL STOUT: Smuttynose Imperial Stout.

    Howdy NBSer's
Well it's hot again in SoCal. Pretty clouds scattered about though. Marine layer makes for a pleasantly (slightly) cool morning.

This is a very interesting offering from Lost Abbey (sometimes known as Flat Abbey)
Smell is tart with cherries. Fairly full in the mouth, but an interesting meld between the cherries and hint of bourbon barrel. This one grows more complex with each sip. The cherries in the fore, the ocassional caramel sweetness trying to peak through, only to be nudged back by the cherry and a hint of leather. Quite good.

I'm glad to see the last few weeks going seriously strong here at NBS. Keep the faith. Good beer, and good people.
    Life can be good.

Actually, you are incorrect. Those dirty spots on your glass are called nucleation sites and are usually attributed to food, detergent, oils and other contaminants, which give the carbonation bubbles something to cling onto. Rinsing and air drying on a rack, instead of drying with a towel or rag, are just as important as the actual cleaning aspect.
