Gonna be moving from Chicago area to SD. Is anybody on here a San Diego realtor that can help me find a rental place that will allow a pit bull and awesome midwest beers? I don't know anyone in Cali and thought I might be able to find some help on here. Thanks for any input. Cheers.

Pit bull will greatly limit your rental options, right or wrong. I'm not sure there are realtors out here that help that much with rentals, though I'm sure there are some that do it. What you really want to do is optimize your work commute, if that is going to be an issue.

just keep checking craigslist. honestly if they dont allow pitbulls, they will state the breed restrictions in the ad.

Whatever you do, stay close to work.. Commuting sucks around here.

If you can avoid going the direction that most people are going (i.e. have a counter commute), it's not so bad. San Diego has pretty set patterns.

So true. I guess I am lucky as my schedule is 5am - 2pm, though traffic on the 805 tends to start around that time.

OP, what part of town are you looking at? I live in South Park, and it's a very dog friendly area. I know a few people with Pit Bulls. The Dog Park is very close, and we live in walking distance to Hamilton's as well.

True.. I guess I'm just jaded because I work in Sorrento Valley and live in North County.

That's about as bad as it gets - envy you I do not.

Eh, express lane and a fun car make the drive tolerable, but yeah, it's crazy.

I work in Sorrento Valley as well, and live in South Park, but getting off at 2 helps me deal with the drive.

The job will be on Candida Street, northeast of the city. I think it's near Poway/Mira Mesa? This all just happened and I'm scrambling to get everything set up. South Park has come up a few times in my early searching. Thanks for the input so far. Keep it coming!

Live in Oceanside and my wife works in National City!! Brutal 43 miles each way. I work only 6 miles from home so that is easy.

That's more of the Miramar area. You're better off looking for places in Mira Mesa or Rancho Penasquitos. Tons of breweries in the area, too.

Open Google Maps, turn it back to Classic mode if you’ve upgraded, turn on Traffic, then set it to Thursday at 8:30am and 5:30pm and that’ll give you a good idea of rush hour patterns. Miramar is a bit of a horror zone if you’re going with traffic, but luckily there are SO MANY breweries in that area that you can usually wait it out. South Park is awesome but that’s not a nice commute during rush hour.

Isn't White Labs on Candida Street (for obvious reasons)? Is the OP going to be working there? That would be freaking cool.

Walking distance to Intergalactic, which I like. Short drive to Ballast Point Oak Grove and Alesmith, as well as 2 Guys and the soon to open Pacific Brewing. Just a little further away you have St. Archer and Rough Draft, and it isn't that much further to Green Flash. You cannot be in a better location for after work beer.

Lots of places to rent in Mira Mesa - probably what you will end up targeting.

Update: Look out my office window to see White Labs. Living in North Park, walk to Toronado. Commute is a piece of cake compared to Chicago. Loving SD so far. Thanks for the info.
