I'm faced with the closing of an old friends life. I'll likely be having a few to leaven and assuage, but to do true justice to an old warrior from 1999, I need a suggestion or two to toast her life. Her name is Lily, a yellow Lab and a great friend. Please help me with a toast to my girl. I'm at a loss. Thanks friends.

Sorry to hear that!! I suggest a good barrel aged stout. The best one you can get a hold of!! Also, change your avatar to a pciture of Lily and make sure to post your beer to what are you drinking now with pcitures of lily playing!!

Sorry about your loss bro.. I recently had to do the same thing myself. Just have one of your go-to's or "old friend" to ease the pain...

I feel your pain. My son had went through this with his 14 year old dog. He gave her steak, mac and cheese and a bowl of beer (brown dog ale) before she was put down the next day.

    Sorry to hear ,
I'd say hill farmstead Damon would be a fitting tribute for a lab. Go to the grocery store buy the biggest filet mignon they have and a box of tissues ....steak for her , tissues for you ,and Damon for both of you ......cheers to great memories

I'm very sorry for your loss. Always hard to lose a friend/family member/companion like your yellow was. I'm sure she meant a lot to you. Have something to celebrate her live! I bet something like a Triple Sunshine would be a great beer for this (if you could get a hold of one).

It super sucks to lose a dog. I had to put my 14 year old sheltie down several years ago. I have a 8 year old sheltie now who is also named Lilly. I'd say drink your best to toast your best friend.

Raising a glass to you and Lily.

If it should be.... If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
and pain should keep me from my sleep,
then you must do what must be done,
for we know this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand,
but don't let grief then stay your hand,
for this day, more than the rest,
your love and friendship must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years,
what is to come can hold no fears.
Would you want me to suffer? So,
when the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend,
only stay with me until the end,
and hold me firm and speak to me,
until my eyes no longer see.

It is a kindness that you do to me,
although my tail it's last has waved,
from pain and suffering I have been saved.

Do not grieve, it should be you,
who must decide this thing to do.
We've been so close, we two these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Sorry to hear about your loss it sucks loosing a four legged best friend. With that said I would recommend Mogli which is a tribute to the brewers dog and it is supposed to be very good.

Oh man does that suck. My avatar is my pal Churchill who died from cancer a year ago. Don't remember what I drank but it was a lot. I'm toasting Lily now with a 2011 Old Stock.
