I echo the Darkest Hour. Still have some batch 1s left and are drinking great.

Goose Island sometimes brings Napa County Stout and Red Wine Barrel-Aged BCS to festivals. I highly recommend both. They started me on the constant search for this sub-substyle and are still the best I've had. Red Thunder was awesome as well (for the price and availability, plus it's a porter).

Mikkeller did a series of Black Hole variants aged in various barrels and there were both red wine and white wine versions

8-Wired Bumaye aged in pinot noir barrels

Straight to Ale Laika aged in Cabernet wine barrels. Out of Alabama. Delicious stuff.

MOA Imperial Stout from New Zealand is pretty good. Deserves a lot higher rating than it has

Wineification, that horrible prairie wine noir, red/white wine black hole, red wine Mexican cake, night shift just released one. They are the new rage right now.

Cabernet Laika is probably the best I've had!

I thought the Port Barrel Damon was a bit too smokey. It DEFINITELY did not live up to the hype for me. However, one of my favorite beers I've ever had was the Red Wine Mexi Cake. Holy shit it was goooood....

Are they the new rage? Just because a couple breweries did them a couple years ago doesn't mean their all the rage, right? I hope they become the rage. More for me. They're usually incredible.

Some more beers to put on the list for sure. I haven't had a lot of wine stouts but the ones I've had or can remember have been mentioned. I've had more ales with wine though so maybe that's why I can't recall many.

Half of the ones I've had have been really really good. The rest (port Damon, wine noir) have been terrible.

I will never understand the rating for the MOA stout on this website.

I had it once and it was silky smooth!! It easily deserves a score of at least 90!!
