The lines don't seem to be that bad typically, and yes they tend to have at least a couple IPAs/DIPAs at all times it seems like.

My second visit today. Got there at 5:30. Out of there by 6. Could have enjoyed longer but had the family with me. Grabbed growlers (and tastes while there) of 8 days a week, Hobbit Juice and Weight of Sound. Just finished my 32 oz Hobbit Juice and really liked it. I'd put it up there with many DIPA's but still found it a notch below Coriolis (both Nelson Sauvin single hopped). That's no knock as Coriolis is the best NEBCO does for my money. Looking forward to having extended tastes of the other two I got over the next days. Hoping to confirm that comparisons to NEBCO Are not outrageous. So far I find Beer'd second to them in CT.

Great atmosphere. Hands on experience. I'd say it is just a notch slow in the growler line but nothing awful. Frankly at that time, can order growlers and then get a full tasting in if you wanted while they fill the growler order.

A notch below Coriolis is still pretty damn good. I hadn't realized that Hobbit Juice used only Nelson Sauvin. I have got to get my hands on this stuff! How regularly does the brewery offer Hobbit? Do you have to get lucky or is it a relatively regular offering?

Anybody have any idea if there will be any Hobbit Juice left for tomrw (6/8)? I'm considering a cross state pilgrimage.

I'd check their Facebook page tomorrow morning. They are very good about posting what will be on tap every day before they open.

    Just posted:

"The lineup tomorrow looks like Hobbit Juice DIPA, The Weight Of Sound DIPA, Whisker'd Wit, Midnight Oil Oatmeal Stout and a limited amount of 8 Days A Week Citra APA. See you starting at 1!"

Well I made my first trip to Beer'd this afternoon. I picked up some Hobbit Juice, Weight of Sound, and 8 Days. There was not much of a wait and the staff was friendly, although the gentleman pouring samples wasn't very knowledgeable about the beers. As a regular NEBCO customer, I was taken back by how small their space is.

Anyway, there were some minor issues once I got my beer. As a habit, I ALWAYS check that my growler caps are on as tight as possible and at pretty much every brewery I've visited, the staff puts them on at least adequately tight and usually super tight. All three of my Beer'd growlers, however, required at least another half turn before they really felt tight. With growlers, maintaining freshness is integral so this kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Also, a couple of the growlers were not nearly filled to the top.

I haven't tried any of the beers yet (I'm about to crack open the Hobbit in a moment) but I must admit that I'm a little turned off by my experience so far. These better be some damn good beers!

    "half turn"

OK, good to know. Please let us know how the beers taste after you made the full turn.

Yes, sugar. I know it sounds silly to complain about but I've been to plenty of breweries for growler fills and I've never seen less attention paid to adequately putting the caps on the growlers. Is it the end of the world? No. Does this lack of attention to efficiency and detail turn me off? Without a doubt.

As stated, growlers depend on freshness and proper handling. 3/3 of the growlers I bought were not properly sealed. Idk what to tell you. I hope your condescending post gave you satisfaction.

Dont forget NEBCO's roots. Selden street was a pretty small room for tasting, but I prefer to think of it as cozy. Really tough on a big release day, but generally awesome to be rubbing elbows with the crew. I'd imagine that's how it is at Beer'd (havent been yet. the location is prohibitive for me, and I still hate the name), just without the "fame". Apparently, its coming for them, I keep hearing good things.

Space is actually nicer and bigger from a "tasting room" area perspective than old NEBCO. Brewing space is infinitely smaller though. Super small.

I went on Friday at around 7ish. There were a decent amount of people there, looked like a lot of regulars. Precious was super efficient and attentive with the samples. She'd do a quick head count of everyone in line and hand out the same sample to everyone then explain a little about the beer. Got to try all 5 beers quickly. Then went over to the growler line where Aaron(sp?) would fill what you wanted. I got one fill of each beer (3 full growlers, and the DIPAs in 32oz). From what they said, they were counter pressure filled which keeps them fresher longer. Was ready to go pretty quick. They were very grateful that I drove from New Haven and got so much beer. Wish I could have stayed longer and chatted but didn't want to hold up the line. As far as the beers go, they are all well built, delicious and, interesting.

Great beer!! Juicy and delicious hop bombs abound. The other styles are not too shabby either. Friendly people and nice free samples. I'll be back again for sure. (Until the lines become tedious, which is probably not too far away.)
