Agreed. I feel the same way about Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout as well. Both are delish and readily available.

Old Rasputin, Founder's Imperial Stout, Ten Fidy, Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout, Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald, Harviestoun Old Engine Oil, Bell's Kalamazoo Stout, Founder's Porter are all fine offerings. Of all the ones I listed, I would say Ten Fidy, Old Engine Oil and Edmund Fitzgerald are all must trys.

Year rounders... Straight forward stout - Sierra Nevada. Something different - Dark Truth. Big n boozy RIS - Old Rasp. For me, anyway. But short answer, whatever is in your hand and makes you smile!

Deschutes Obsidian Stout is the best year round stout available, IMO. I wish I could get it in my area.

I rarely have anything that could be construed as negative to say about Sierra Nevada but their porter is the only one of their year-round beers I wouldn't recommend. There's nothing wrong with their porter but you can almost always find a better one at a similar price point regardless of where in the US you live. Founders, Bell's, Anchor, Eddy Fitz, Smuttynose, Black Butte, Cutthroat, etc.

If you can find a bottle of Pisgah Brewing's Vortex II, do not hesitate to buy and enjoy.

Any Yeti Stout is a winner. Ten Fidy is fantastic.

Honestly, I would take a (fresh) SN Porter over all but one of those on any day of the week. That's why they make all different kinds, I suppose.

Anderson Valley Wild Turkey Bourbon Barrel Stout. bar none amazing and made all year. I go through a case and half a week in my store-- people are loving on it, and the price is just right at 8.99/22oz!

I'd drink Bar Harbors Cadillac Mountain Stout on a daily basis. It just doesn't get the distro.

I'm with you on this Tongo. I've never had Black Butte, but the rest I think SN can more than hold it's own with.

Founders Porter. It's my favorite Porter, and at 6.5% or so its really more of a stout, if you believe there is really a difference between the styles at all. I like Bells, Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald and Anchor Porter almost as much.

Another vote for both SN Stout and Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout.

SN is, in my opinion, impossible to beat in the taste/price per ounce fight. Runs about $8 for a six pack, and sitting in at just under 6% ABV, you can enjoy one (or if you have a higher tolerance than me, two) without anything more than a pleasantly mild buzz. For something so inexpensive and relatively low ABV, I always forget just how thick and roasty of a body this beer actually has.
