Can anyone provide me with some insight on the trade value of your standard Cantillon's? Stuff like: Iris, 100% Kriek, St. Lamvinus, Lou Pepe Kriek, etc..? Thanks.
It fluctuates a bit with seasonality and release timing, but you're roughly looking at something like this, largely based around bottle counts: Tier 1: Classic Gueuze, Kriek, Rose Tier 2: Bruocsella, Iris, Vigneronne Tier 3: LP Kriek/Framboise, Lamvinus, Mamouche, CdC Tier 4: LP Gueuze, Fou Foune Again, it fluctuates a bit, and everybody values a bit differently. I don't much care for Bruocsella. Iris was tougher to land for a while, but they've put out a bunch recently. Lamvinus probably has more pull than anything else in Tier 3, but it won't likely trade for a Fou Foune or LP Gueuze. It's really hard to say what it takes to land any of those, because it is literally all over the place. Tier 1 is very good shelf stuff probably limited distro releases, Tier 2 requires at least limited distributed stuff (like a BCBS variant), by Tier 3 you're into very limited releases (Lamvinus can likely land Black Tuesday these days), and Tier 4 can get a bottle of just about anything released in the past year. But again, I'm sure Classic Gueuze has gone for stuff like Dark Lord plenty of times, so it's really all over the place.
Nice synopsis. I attempted to trade some Tier 2 and 3 for vintage Classic but limited myself to IP only. Good to know for future offers.
This is how I would rank them. In terms of "normal" Cantillon, I think Fou Foune is on it's own level and LP Gueuze is just a level below. Although CDC and CSG are essentially the same beer, the CDC labeled beer is far less common. Tier 1: Classic Gueuze, Kriek, Rose, Bruocsella Tier 2: Iris, Vigneronne Tier 3: LP Kriek/Framboise, Cuvee St. Gilloise, Lamvinus Tier 4: Mamouche, Cuvee des Champion, LP Gueuze Tier 5: Fou Foune
I would have agreed with you on FF a year ago, but they've pumped out a lot of it in the last year. People seem to finally be over the "FF will never be made again" scare, and it seems to have come down to earth a bit in trade ISO's. LP Gueuze is more limited at the moment, and while it doesn't quite have the hype of FF, it's still pretty desirable.
