I will be down in CT for the weekend and am hoping for some leads on hotels within walking distance or an easy cab ride from NEBCO.

Well, you could stay at the Three Judges Motor Lodge and be in walking distance, but aside from being near a terrible neighborhood, you`ll probably be itching with bed bugs.
If you are set on spending the night, take a cab a few miles into New Haven & stay at the Courtyard Marriott, Omni or The Study at Yale. You will have a nicer place to stay, plus be close to watering holes like Prime 16, Cask Republic, Bru Room at Bar and other sights in downtown New Haven. And be sure to knosh on some Apizza while in town.

And the birthplace of the hamburger, Louis Lunch.

Thanks guys. I actually lived in Guilford during the 90's and prior to moving to VT and am definitely going to his Wooster Street and hopefully get a burger at Louis Lunch. I couldn't remember if there were any hotels up in that area where NEBCO is located.

What's the layout at NEBCO like? Is it just growler fills or do they have a brew pub where we can sit down for drafts and a meal?

yes, but they're hooker motels. best bet is what mltobin said. get your growlers @ nebco an head 10 minutes down town. the hotels and beer bars are all stumbling distance to each other.

I haven't partied in New Haven since '99 and it was at Richter's and Toads. One memorable night I got wrecked at Richter's on 1/2 yards prior to a REM show at the Coliseum.
What to you all recommend for places to throw some back? mltobin recommends Prime 16, Cask Republic, and Bru Room. Are they all downtown?

Ha, don't see too many Guilford folk on a daily basis. I grew up there, but haven't lived there for over 10 years at this point. There always seemed to be a strong Guilford-VT connection, you're definitely not the first person from the town that I've heard of uprooting and heading north.

Prime 16 and Cask are probably your two best bets, yeah. Both downtown. Prime is on Temple and Cask is on Crown. If you go to Bar to get pizza, no reason not to have a couple beers, but I would not go to Bru Room to go to Bru Room.

I, personally, also love the re-opened Rudy's, now on Chapel, but YMMV.

As others have said already,I'd get a hotel downtown New Haven somewhere. Then head to NEBCo. and have some fun there. You could go to Delaney's Taproom about 3 minutes down the road(lots of draft lines and usually have NEBCo. treats on)After, head to my fav. spot Prime 16 and maybe a burger there.(I love Louis' Lunch up street though,3 blends of Angus go into their burgers)From Prime, Cask Republic is a hop, skip, and a jump away.Later, if your really on a roll, head over to wooster st. or to Modern Apizza(always have NEBCo. on tap) at modern.

    Enjoy your stay......:sunglasses:

Prime 16 is literally across the street from the Omni, Cask Republic is around the corner. The Marriott is about a mile from those spots, the Study maybe half a mile?

You can cab it, but it's also a fairly straightforward bus ride from downtown to the brewery...

All the places to check out have been covered, I think:
    Prime 16
    Cask Republic
    Rudy's
    Ordinary
    Bar (Bru Room)
    All are downtown

Delaneys is in Westville down the road from NEBCO, and worth a stop in. I agree with everyone about Hotels, and you should stay at Omni, New Haven Hotel, Marriot or The Study. I think New Haven Hotel is like $100 a night, and its downtown/walkable to Prime and Cask and others. I heard that Modern Pizza has Galaxy on tap currently

I actually grew up in Guilford too, and I live in New Haven currently. If you need a ride to the Brewery, I planned to head over there around 1 or 2 on Saturday.

Owl Shop is a REALLY cool bar if you're into cigars too. They match them up with beers/bourbon/rum etc for you too if you like. Not a real beer destination, but a cool place.
