Joe, one of my first and best traders evah! I miss the good old days when I traded as often as a rabbit tries to procreate. :grinning:

    What's up NBS,

Drinking a Long Ireland Breakfast Stout this afternoon... got a cheap growler of it the other day over in NY state.

Nice coffee and milk sugar sweetness to this one, and really well balanced with these two flavors, but just doesn't have the kick I'm looking for at 3.5% and such a thin mouth feel... make's it really tough to rate an otherwise really delicious stout...

So I spiked it with some Van Gogh Double Espresso Vodka.

It's no KBS/FBS, but it's still pretty damn good. Might spiked the next glass with some Maker's Mark, see how that works.

Overall decent, but there's just so many more delicious breakfast stouts out there.

Happy Father's Day to all the BA dads out there, my dad unfortunately doesn't drink beer so it looks like I've got the growler all to myself.

Since you named four of my favorite stouts in saying it reminded you of them, I need to find me a bottle of this ASAP!

Happy Father's Day to all dads! Had this little gem this morning. I would say it's a strong on at 12 abv, but very tasty. Lot's of brown sugar, and just 'smokey' enough for my tastes. Every sip is heaven. It looks beautiful, though my iphone camera didn't do it much justice. I am new to Imperial Stouts but know I love this...

    Cheers!

Happy Father's Day to the dads, and well-wishes to CaveDave!

Today I have a Southern Tier Back Burner, oak aged barleywine-
    [IMG]

Great color, and a nice fine head that like to stick around for a while. The nose is almost barleywine all the way, with a hint of oak playing a supporting role deep down under the figs, berries, nuts, light caramel, showing as a touch of vanilla bringing up the rear. Not too much here in the way of hops or specialty malts, but that's how I prefer them anyway. The vanilla comes out a lot more on the palate, while the oak lingers in the finish- a very well-integrated and non-intrusive element. The elegant presentation of well-woven flavors, unfortunately, is marred by an underattenuated quality that dominates all else. Dry this out a touch, and it would do a lot for this beer. Solid B+ for effort, but it easily could have been on a whole other level.

[IMG] Hello fellow NBS'ers. Happy Father's Day if it applies. Although I am not a father yet.... I have 2 georgeous bulldogs I treat like my kids  Anyway I had these three so far today while doing housework ( haven't done much in the last couple weeks) all three are new to me so that's a good start to the evening. Plan on having another perpetual as that was quite tasty

Been trying to catch up around the house after being gone all week., and then today I had to replace the kitchen faucet since it was leaking. At least my little boy helped out on Father's Day.

Then we fired up the grill for steaks and zucchini from the garden.

Now for the new beer. This is Wild Trillium from Trillium Brewing. They released this during their anniversary week back in March and I was fortunate enough to pick up a bottle while I was up there for EBF. I was a little worried that it might tend towards a sour, but this turned out to pick a fantastic barrel aged saison. Just wished I had more!

Thanks for kicking us off today, Dave!

I don't envy you riding herd on us as we wax poetic on various beers while having to go without. Hopefully in 4 weeks you are good as new and have something tucked away that will taste so good it was worth the wait!

Oak-aged Backburner was the first Barleywine I really, really liked. I thought it was awesome. I've had others since then, but it - along with DFH Burton Baton - can be fully blamed for my love of oak-aged beers.

Greeting All and Happy Father's Day.

I am at the age where my kids are grown and gone, but with the miracles of text messaging it's like they are always about.

I ran across this Schneider Weisse Tap 7 in a tavern the other day so I bought a couple bottles for NBS. A decent Bavarian Style Hefe, but darker in color than I was expecting. The nut brown color kind of threw me.

Cool and a bit unsettled here in the Columbia Basin. We had summer weather in May and now we are having spring weather in June. Go figure?

    Happy Trails!

    NEW DOPPELSTICKE SUNDAY

Hey guys and happy Father's Day where applicable! Lots of fun outside with the family enjoying the perfect weather. We went for a bike ride and had fun with the hose. Now the little guy is in bed and I am trying to decipher this delicious enigma. The label calls it a subtly smoked, extra hoppy version of a classic "special old ale" Definitely different and I'm liking it more and more as I get towards the bottom of the glass.

Thanks for the kind words, man, already planning the breakout beers.

Everyone's kind wishes are greatly appreciated.

    New rye beer

Happy Fathers' Day. The best present I received this weekend was getting to skip out on my wife's class reunion last night.

It's another beautiful day in West MI. Skies are blue, temps got in the low 80's with a good breeze. Today was spent playing with the kids, watching soccer, and trying a new beer. This week's brew was a decent rye beer from Arbor Brewing. It was decent enough, but I think the higher ABV took away from the rye and any complimentary hopping.

Too lazy to do a picture this evening, but here's the review...
