Denver Rare Beer Tasting VI Tickets Go On Sale June 15
Pints for Prostates Awareness Event Set for Oct. 3

DENVER, CO -- The Denver Rare Beer Tasting VI, an awareness event and fundraiser for the Pints for Prostates campaign, will be held on Oct. 3 in Colorado during the same weekend as the Great American Beer Festival.

The event features the chance to sample rare, exotic and vintage beers from more than 40 of America’s top craft breweries and the opportunity to meet the men and women who made them.

Tickets for the event go on sale on Father’s Day, June 15, at Noon (ET). VIP tickets for the event are $150 and allow early entry to the event at Noon. General admission tickets are $110 each for the 1-4 p.m. event.

“The Denver Rare Beer Tasting has built a reputation as a truly unique boutique-style tasting,” said Rick Lyke, founder of Pints for Prostates. “We bring together America’s best craft breweries in a relaxed format where brewers and beer lovers get the chance to talk and taste one of the finest collections of rare beers to be found anywhere.”

Each attendee receives a commemorative tasting glass, t-shirt, program and pen. A buffet lunch is included in the ticket price and guests will have the chance to bid in an exciting silent auction that includes a variety of unique beer experiences and collectibles.

All ticket holders to this year’s Denver Rare Beer Tasting will be entered into a drawing for a 9-night BeerTrips.com organized tour for two of Belgium, the Czech Republic and Germany. VIP ticket holders will receive three raffle tickets and general admission ticket holders will receive one ticket. Anyone wearing a Pints for Prostates t-shirt or hat to the event will receive another free entry for the drawing. Additional tickets will be available for a donation at the event. The winner will be drawn during the event from tickets collected exclusively at the Denver Rare Beer Tasting. The winner and a guest will travel to Brussels, Prague, Bamberg and Cologne from Oct. 8-18, 2015. The trip includes roundtrip airfare from the continental U.S., 9 nights hotel, ground transportation, brewery tours, pub crawls, guided city tours, 9 breakfasts, 4 beer lunches and 4 beer dinners.

Tickets to the Denver Rare Beer Tasting are among the most sought after of any beer tasting. The first five Denver Rare Beer Tastings sold out weeks in advance. The event will be held this year on two floors of the McNichols Civic Center Building at 144 W. Colfax Ave. in Denver.

“The Denver Rare Beer Tasting has become one of the most anticipated annual beer celebrations. Beer fans get to taste a collection of beers that most people never have the chance to enjoy, while rubbing elbows with brewers,” said Lyke. “It is a fun afternoon and a great atmosphere, with a serious mission: raising awareness about prostate cancer.”

Pints for Prostates is a 501(c)3 non-profit charity and all net proceeds from Denver Rare Beer Tasting go towards the group’s awareness mission and help to fund the education and support programs of the Us TOO International Prostate Cancer Education and Support Network, and free prostates cancer screening programs provided by the Prostate Conditions Education Council.

Invitations are being extended to a select group of breweries and event organizers hope to be able to announce a preliminary participant list during July. Breweries bring some of their rarest brews to the event and the beer list will be released prior to the Denver Rare Beer Tasting VI. A list of beers poured during the first five years is available on the Pints for Prostates website.

Sponsorship packages are available for companies that wish to support and take part in the event.

    About Pints for Prostates
Pints for Prostates reaches men through the universal language of beer to encourage them to take charge of their health. The group was founded by prostate cancer survivor and beer writer Rick Lyke in 2008. The grassroots effort raises awareness among men about the importance of regular men’s health screenings by making appearances at beer festivals, social networking and pro bono advertising. According to the National Cancer Institute, approximately 240,000 new prostate cancer cases are diagnosed annually in the U.S. More information is available at www.pintsforprostates.org. Pints for Prostates also has a presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@pints4prostates).

So it's on two floors this year? That is good, it was a bit crowded last year. Hopefully more toilets can be figured out

Always a great event. I've volunteered for the last 4 years and have had a blast even while working.

@Lyke2Drink How many more tickets will you be selling this year? I liked the new venue last year but it was hard to move around and the restroom situation was a mess. Never really have those issues at Wynkoop.

Please What The Funk, don't have your event the same day!

We are going from one floor to two floors this year and increasing ticket count by just 150. Believe it or not, we were 140 people under the fire marshal approved capacity at the venue last year. It is not our intent to oversell the space and we are taking this step to make it a great experience for guests and brewers. We are using two floors this year so we can have more room, increase the number of bathrooms and provide some tables and chairs for people to be able to sit and eat. We are doubling the space, but not the ticket count. We enjoyed our first four years at Wynkoop, but we were really at the capacity of that space and guests told us the pool tables made it difficult to move around.

How many VIP tickets vs general admission tickets? Trying to figure out if it's worth getting in an hour early.

@Lyke2Drink Do tickets go on sale at 12 Mountain or Eastern. Etix says Mountain and your announcement says Eastern.

A couple of pieces of news....

We are starting to receive commitments from brewers for the event, with Big Sky Brewing, Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, Nebraska Brewing, Perennial Artisan Ales, Sierra Nevada Brewing and Wicked Weed Brewing registered for the Denver Rare Beer Tasting VI. We will update this list on a regular basis.

First day ticket sales were very strong, with buyers from 21 states and Guam. VIP tickets are moving rapidly, with two thirds gone in less than 24 hours. http://www.etix.com/ticket/online/venueSearch.jsp?venue_id=10492

It's absolutely worth it, although I'd probably preface that with - you should enjoy aged beer. I know some people who don't and even I have mixed feelings about some styles. There are almost always at least 5-6 full on whalez at the event either way.

I'm not looking at the VIP as an extra hour to drink, but more like a chance to start an hour earlier and be done (hopefully) an hour earlier. Just in case I need to nap before whatever unfolds that night. I kept myself together for the most part last year but I had some extreme palate fatigue at WTF! that night. Also there were some people in VERY bad shape that had come almost directly from Rare Beer to the WTF line. What a mess. Crossing my fingers that WTF is Saturday night but I think it will more than likely be on Friday again.

Maybe those of us going to Crooked Stave on Saturday can inquire about WTF...I'm thinking to buy Rare Beer this weekend if the news is right (or null).
