I'm going to be driving through GA next week and I'm a little unclear about Burnt Hickory availability. They don't have a taproom, correct? Can you buy at the brewery or only at stores and bars? And do they sell bottles or is everything draft-only right now? (I've seen photos of the band beers online, but they don't seem to be widely available.) Thanks all!
They are still brewing on very small system and have limited draft availability. They have a monthly Open House from 12 to 5 on the 2nd or 3rd Saturday of the month. This month's was last weekend. They are in the process of installing a 20 bbl system, but I guess that is a few months away. We are definitely looking forward to more beer. I believe they are going to can some of their beers. No one can buy beer from a brewery in GA thanks to our corrupt legislature who are in the pockets of big beer. Your best bets are bars and growler store in the Kennesaw area.
OMENSETTER. email me [email protected] we do have a tasting room, but because of our size, we really don't have REAL hours just yet. We'll be around most of next week as we are prepping for the arrival of our new brewhouse here in the next month. We can do sample tastings and I can give you an idea of nearby growler shops that are stocking. Our latest band beer is our Imperial Apricot Saison for the band WHITE FLAG. We also have a stash of our Meat Puppets beer. Bring us some Surly!
Check out Dogwood Growlers, Wise Owl Growlers, or Barrel and Barley. One of them usually has BHB on tap. Cheers
If you plan on visiting, come up soon. The "little brewery" is changing its appearance completely. Expansion is finally at full speed. Boiler/giant walk in/glycol unit/bottler/keg washer! It's Xmas in the summer.
First: Thanks to Scott and Butterknutt for making me feel like a regular the minute I walked through the door. They were beyond welcoming and generous, and Scott took a ton of time out of his day to give some random guy from Minnesota the grand tour. If I didn't live a thousand miles away, I'd darken their doorway every chance I got. Second: Burnt Hickory is terrific. I first heard about them because a lot of their beers are named after some favorite bands of mine, and I hoped that the beers themselves would be at least okay. Burnt Hickory turns out to be decidedly better than just okay - based on everything I tried, they belong in the conversation about the best new microbreweries. You're going to see a lot of ISOs for BHB someday soon. Granted, about half of them will be from me, but still... Great beers, great people.
Hey “Omensy”! Thanks for stopping by. Butterknutt had a tiny tear in his eye when you left! We love cool beer lovers (beer lovers that are cool? or lovers of cool beer?). If anyone else traveling thru our tiny city wants to stop by, feel free. We are here most days til 4 or 5. Email me. [email protected]. We always have something on tap that’s new! (this week it’s the new 9353. Our late summer seasonal that is in a R and D batch size now. Brewing more this week for full release in 3 weeks!) Plus, have a sneak peak at our demolition. We have many fewer walls than we did a month ago!
