Darkness Day 2014 Thread

Just came to post that. I've always wanted to go and something always comes up. What will it be this year? Any Rochester guys going? I would love to plan this early and carpool if possible.

 

I will be going along with a few friends.

 

Zombie Prius.

 

I'm planning on making Friday night for the first time. Not sure I'll even stay to grab bottles.

 

Probably could've just guessed the date and location.

 

Last year was fun up until the part where I couldn't buy any bottles. Oh well, I'm going again. I like the special releases and the music.

 

The generous people, and awesome bottle shares make Friday a must. That said I won't be making more than a cameo that night because we are expecting our second baby on 11/2. Hopefully I can still meet up with some MN BAs that night.

 

Congrats man, that's awesome! And hie your ass hither...the hard work won't start for another week or so.

 

Thanks man, I figure that I've got a few good months left to live it up before 2.0 arrives. We gotta get together for a beer soon. Are you around this weekend? Thinking of opening some bottles, send me a BM if interested

Sweet. Can be sure to buy a ton of bottles and then ask $100 on craigslist.

For those of you that bring a lot of bottles to share, what's the easiest way....a backpack?

 

I thought I read somewhere that Darkness Day will always be held at their Brooklyn Center location for a number of reasons, 2 of which stood out the most, but reason #1 being the biggest point:

1. Brooklyn Center has municipal liquor stores and the city of Minneapolis has private liquor stores. If moved to the Minneapolis brewery location, Surly would have to acquire their own liquor license to host Darkness Day there, whereas in Brooklyn Center, the municipal liquor store actually sells the bottles of Darkness for Surly, therefore negating the need for Surly to have a liquor license to sell that weekend.
   
2. Brooklyn Center location has more space/parking than the new brewery will have.

 

A cooler or something that you leave near where you are camping. I've never heard about anything getting stolen ever.

 

These reasons plus the new brewery will not be open by darkness day this year I think.

 

....& Brooklyn Center has a much more understanding police force.

I can't imagine the Minneapolis PD putting up with 1,000 people drinking all night.

 

There were several reports of people swiping bottles last year. Pretty sure it was in last year's thread even.

 

It happened to me a few years, but luckily I had a friend who saw him take it off our table, I confronted him and he gave it back, after the bottle was shared and emptied, I took the empty and gave it back to him...
