As I'm sitting here at 1:55 am on Sunday morning, watching Wayne's World on my Roku, I'm enjoying a Rogue Chocolate Stout. Wait for it. In this. And it seems to work, really well. I've even warmed it by cupping it it my hands (suppress laughter, all of you). Do any of you pick things like this, or other wine glasses over beer glasses for consuming your brews? Or, am I weird?

aside from the long stem, thats basically the same shape as a snifter.

Hm. True. I suppose my question is directed towards people who prefer wine glasses over beer glasses. But you're right, and that's why I subconsciously went for that one in my wife's glasses, as opposed to mine.

Honestly, I had a Two-Hearted out of my girlfriend's wine glass last night and it really amplified the citrus notes moreso than my IPA glass. Made me reconsider the collection of beer glassware I have sitting on the shelf.

yeah sure the stem is a little long and dainty but id take that over a shaker pint glass every day.

Funny u ask I'm currently using a short wind glass to drink some bomb! It's actually my new go to. It's actually used quite a lot by beer bars around here for strong limited sours, probably because it's about 8oz and they can charge u a full pour but I like it. Infact the first sour I ever had was from one of these at toronados in sf, consecration and I hated it.

Looks like reidel calls them gourmet glasses.

I also use my goose island wine glasses a lot, I love them. Well used to have a pair but my wife broke hers so I'm down to one

I actually started this way before I had snifters and tulips and a large red wine glass does a great job. I can't say it does better than my snifter or tulip which I mostly use now. I have tulip pint glasses as well for lower ABV drinking. I think it's more of a mood thing. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a certain beer and a certain glass and everything tastes better. The mind is powerful.

HF wine stem is my go to beer glass. Its seems to be the perfect "catch all" for every style of beer that I drink. From high abv barrel aged beers, sour, saisons, berlinner weiss, and everything hoppy. I have actually been trading alot of my beer glass collection towards more HF wine stems and also side projects wine stems(because side projects uses the exact same glass shape as HF wine stems). No your not weird.

I don't think it is weird at all. I regularly use stemless wine glasses when drinking Porters and Stouts.

Currently visiting my folks who are big wine drinkers, and I'll often snake one of their enormous red wine glasses to enjoy a brew out of.

No, Wine glasses happen to handle good beer really well because they are designed to enhance the same things we beer drinkers happen to be looking for in good beer.

A red or white wine glass is perfect for any beer.

I enjoy wine glasses for beer also. They are usually thinner glass, making the hand warming quicker. I prefer, however, the stemless kind, having a lower center of gravity. Oh, heck, make that required, not preferred, by 'ol clumsy. And, a two-handed warming technique is even quicker.

I was thinking about the Hill Farmstead glasses, I don't have one, but was using one yesterday and how they look like a large red wine glass, with a beefier stem.

Garrett Oliver might not think so: “If I had only one glass in my house, it would be a large white wine glass.”

I don't think you're weird, but I don't think it's weird to drink beer out of anything people would typically drink out of, be it a glass bottle or a coffee mug.

up until i dropped my oversized HF wine glass, it was my favorite glass by far...it really is just a lengthy snifter, as a previous poster alluded to...what i loved about it was the size(TWSS).. convenient as hell

One of my favorite glasses is a cheap red wine glass I bought at consignment for like $1. It's similar in shape to quite a few beer glasses and I happen to like a longer stem, so no it's not weird at all, they are really great multi purpose glasses.
