Well, I just checked and the last thing of Furious I got was purchased last week and was canned 5/30/2014. You are really complaining about it taking 2.5 weeks to get a beer to the store?

One delivery of Surly Wet so they could supply Chicago is not a shitty move at all. The entitlment of this thread is down right insane. As is the overly agressive, beer snobbery of "F Surly" "F Wet." Hey, I don't like the idea of not getting Wet, but, whatever, it's nothing to get angry at or to no enjoy the other beers that Surly provides that are way above anything else in the local market. Not sure how they screwed up Abrasive. It was a fantastic beer. It was expensive, but lots of beer is expensive. Don't want to spend it, no biggie, don't buy it, just don't get this attitude towards it like Surly owes you something.

If no one is buying the beer, then I wonder why Surly is running their brewery 24 hours a day. Their brewers come off a shift looking exhausted. I think people here are viewing their impact on the amount of beer purchased being much greater than it is. They obviously are still selling a ton of beer to people who want to buy the beer and are expanding to more people who will buy the beer. They have every right to service those people just as much as anyone else.

I don't get why they don't sit down with their distributor and work out why deliveries are so old. I can't find coffee bender newer than feb and furious from early may. I've hit several stores in the sw Metro looking

There were 5-6 cannings of Abrasive, no?

I can think of 4 immediately. And I ordered some from Merwin's and got it shipped here and it was around 2 weeks old.

Good Lord, where is the grammar guru when we need him/her? Dude, put down the pen, stick to calculus & feel free to leave all the Surly to the people who really enjoy their beer!

I hate that Surly screwed up Abrasive so badly that I was able to buy it whenever I wanted for like 5-6 months.

The fact that there is 6 month old Abrasive still sitting on shelves should tell you something.

Right. The fact that there is old Furious on shelves and really old Abrasive on shelves doesn't sound like a distribution problem at all, it sounds like a shelf turnover problem (and possibly a distribution turnover problem as well).

Blame the stores for not buying beer properly, not Surly for making it. LOTS of stores had zero problems selling Abrasive, Blakkr, Pentagram, etc in a timely fashion.

I've found that it's tougher to find fresh cans in the past year. I asked earlier about Furious being dialed down in this thread and have since talked to two different patrons of the place where I had the taps that made me question the present recipe and they complained about the quality too. Looks like an individual quality control issue.

Do you ask the bartender when the Furious was kegged? I bet some of it in smaller towns is 6 to 8 weeks old. Still better that some of the stuff they have on tap.

You've seen stores selling out of Pentagram? I don't think I've been in a store (admittedly only 3-4 of them) that didn't still have a pretty healthy amount of Pentagram left.

Surly beer is made for people like us... The reason stores sell out of darkness and pentagram is people like us...

If YOU think it's expensive... and you YOU are the market that pays top dollar for this stuff... think about everyone else...

Joe Schmoe walking in for his weekend case of Mich Golden Light for $16.99 sure as hell ain't gonna stop, and pick up ONE dark bottle, with purple ink called pentagram for $22...

and I'm stopping there so I won't hijack the Wet thread that got hijacked by Furious that got hijacked by Pentagram that for a moment got hijacked by Mich Golden Light....

It's fun to read all this, I started the thread but wasn't sure where it would go. I'm upset there will be no Wet, but after reading the rebuttals I get it... I'm just being a whiney bitch because I can't get the best wet hopped beer available (Aside from last years, last years wasn't great).

It's all very interesting. I wonder if people from WI ever bitch about New Glarus.

If they do complain about New Glarus it certainly can't be about their pricing.

I was recently in a store in the Western burbs that still has 2013 Pentagram left (not surprising at $25!)

I've only seen Blakkr at a couple shops in the cities. The rest, I see, but not surprising. Both are beers that are high priced and both are styles that just don't sell a ton. My question is, why does Surly get slammed for having beer that sit around while other local places don't? I mean, people were talking about how the smaller, more nimble breweries are going to cause problems and pass surly, yet, those same places have stuff sitting on the shelves for months. Bash Surly to bash Surly if you want, but you look silly.
