July 12th. Heard Double DBA is supposed to be available that day as well.

"No "event" or food, it will just be a ticketed bottle pick-up." No other details yet.

I've LOVED all of Barrelworks' releases to date, but after trying this one on tap at the tasting room, I can't imagine anyone will feel satisfied after having paid that much for this. I wanted so badly to love it, but it's really not great. I hate to be disparaging about anything FW does, but this seems like a slight whiff, or maybe a deep foul ball. Conversely, it may just be a personal preference thing, and maybe I just didn't enjoy or "get" what FW was going for with this one. BA @UCLABrewN84 may have summed it up best: "Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable but fairly watery and lacking in sourness." It's got a nice funk, which I enjoyed, but since it's marketed as a Berliner weisse, I expected much more crispness and tartness.

Satisfaction will be an issue, especially when they released Rose first. Rose >>>>> Weisse.

Agreed. I felt that Rose has been the best of the 3 so far, although I'm hoping some age might help the others.

I'm hoping this means Agrestic will be 500ml as well.

Barrelworks is 50/50 on releases for me right now. Feral One and Rose were great, Lil Opal and Weiss disappointing. That must mean something good is next :stuck_out_tongue:

I'm curious to see how the ticketed event aspect of this works. I mean, I've been there for all the releases. Feral One was run pretty good. Lil' Opal was pretty much a regular business day for Barrelworks with a little more crowd. Bretta Rose was just out of control. It didn't help that Stickee Monkee was released same day.

I'll probably still go or just wait till the next weekend when i'm driving through to S.F. to visit and pick up some bottles.

Will they be selling this at Firestone Walker's Barrel works store in Paso? I went to the Bretta release and found out the next day they had it for sale in Paso also.

Not known yet if it will be sold in Paso in the immediate days following (like past releases) due to "limited availability". 350 cases and I'm guessing 6 bottles per case with the 500ml format? They should have all the details out by the end of the week. Or maybe it will depend on the amount of tickets sold in advance.

Just had 1809 last night that I bought from local beer shop for about $6.
Firestone's better be at least 2x better than that (I doubt it).

I tasted this from a few ghost bottles that Jeffers and Jim brought to a post-FWIBF event. At the time, they were pretty fresh and therefore didn't have enough contact with the microflora yet.

For me, it had too much of a wheaty backbone and not enough sour, which is understandable given it's short life in the bottle up to that point. I'm going to give it the benefit of my doubt until it has some time to develop. Sure $15 is steep, but I agree that the move to 500mL was necessary.

If you think it'll be anything like 1809, then you'll be let down, as I was. I was expecting something along those lines, with hints of funk, but it wasn't really anything like 1809.

Personally, I was hoping this was going to be a new Proprietors release that we would see on shelves locally. This stuff is good, but I dont think warrants a "ticketed event". Its nice to have a glass of this while at Barrel Works to refresh the palate in between samples of the heavy stuff.

You think they made this a ticketed event to build the hype? Like why did they make less cases of this stuff. I wonder how well these bottles will trade for.
