I'll be in Israel in the second half of August with @gopackgo58 . I'm wondering what are the good beers to try? Good breweries I should maybe try to get to? And any BAs living there? I found @BILF posting elsewhere today. Other suggestions for food, sights, and cities/places are welcome.

I am aware Israel is in the Middle East/Asian continent. But this subforum has more traffic and Israel has many cultural ties to Europe. Mods can move it if they want.
    Thanks!

Here is a link to all the breweries in Israel. There is a catch...it is all in Hebrew.

You should try all the beers. There are some good ones and some well, not so good ones. Bring your wallet because they tax the hell out of us here on beer . Be prepared to pay $4 for a 330ml bottle, takeaway from a shop. In a bar you're looking at $8-$9. Yeah it's harsh.

A good place to start if you are seeking most of the Israeli craft beers in one place is the Beer Market at the Old Port in Jaffa (Tel Aviv). Also at the Beer Bazar in Carmel Market in Tel Aviv has a good range. They have a bar as well.

Food here is awesome from European to Middle Eastern. You can't go wrong.

Sights - Tel Aviv, Dead Sea, Sea of Galilea and Jerusalem. Jerusalem Beer Festival (loud music, girls and macro brews) is August 27,28 at Independence Park.

I did a two day beer tour to Tel Aviv last year. Check out the following places if you like:

    Beer Market, Old Jaffa Port.
    Beer Bazar, Carmel Market.
    Dancing Camel http://www.dancingcamel.com/en
Porter and Sons (Good beer range but very pretentious staff).
Beer Menu for Poerter and Sons

Norman, small bar with Chimay, Fuller's on tap.

I have visited two breweries here and was disappointed. Beer was disappointing and the average BA would know more about beer than the people hosting the tour. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit a brewery here.

There is a brewery in the West Bank, Palestine called Taybeh http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/12583/

There is a pretty good range of European imported beer here that you can work your way through. The only US beers I have seen Here are Sam Adams boston lager and a few from Brooklyn.

Safe travels and I hope you enjoy your time in the Holy Land!

P.S. Israel does have many cultural ties to Europe and the West and is a safe place to travel but I assure you that you are coming to the Middle East. Keep your mind open, try to be patient with the Israelis (they can be pretty full on at first) and you will have an experience to remember.
