I'd love to see them distributed in CA, especially their stouts.

Was their last expansion the reason why this years KBS fell way off? Or am I just a snob.

all day ipa is their best selling beer right now and they literally cant keep up..the cans were absent from the shelves for almost a month here in Indiana..finally back as of this week! its amazing to me how much they have grown..cause they really dont make anything that i have to have..

I would love to see their production of KBS hit BCBS levels. Most of their "every day" beers... I'm pretty happy with the levels here in Indy.

The latest KBS was in barrels before the expansion happened so it had no effect at all on the quantity or quality of the product

I really haven't noticed a drop in quality as far as I'm concerned, so I'm all good with the expansion!

Is there really going to be that much market for Founders beer going forward? I can't help but wonder how many of these mid-size breweries will regret expanding so rapidly. If their local market demands it, that's one thing, but outside of the upper Midwest, how much market is their for Founders' year-round beers? It's a serious question, and I wonder if the mid-size brewery's race to outdo one another will end up biting them in the ass.

I hope they expand enough to make it out to Colorado!

Every beer they make is top quality - there is plenty of market for them. Strong brand, solid year-round lineup (though not always fresh in some places to your point - NC here), and amazing seasonals and specialties that fly off shelves.

I think the fickleness of craft drinkers and ticking and trying new beers is a risk for these mid-size brewers expanding. Founders IMO has nothing to worry about..

Did you read the article or just decide to speculate as to their future growth potential? Everybody outside the state of Michigan is crying about the scarcity of All Day IPA cans which the article points out is up by 138% growth. Likewise they just entered Arizona and are only marketed in 35 of 50 states so it looks like they could still stand to grow even more.
I would rather not see my local brewery become the next Sam Adams but with growth and efficiency the price of Founders six packs are down to 8.49 at some stores across West Michigan. I'd sure as hell rather buy a sixer of Centennial versus Boston Lager any day and I'm sure alot of people in those 15 states that have yet to get distribution would as well.

I'd like to see them in Cali. I've only had two Founders beers: Red's Rye, which was a drain pour, and Dirty Bastard, which was better than average but not mind-blowing. I'd love to try their beers again, though.

The squeeze will come from mid-size breweries expanding into new markets seeking growth. Founders has done a little of that but I'm told Michigan is growing at 60% for them so they needed to expand just to satisfy their home market.

I love Founders and appreciate that Michiganders are going to represent their brewery to the fullest. However, people who don't believe that their stouts are different from 12' to 13' to 14' are just lying to themselves. Opinions of the change for better or worse is entirely subjective, so I won't say things like "fell way off," but "different" is a definite.

Double-edged sword. Hopefully this will result in increased availability for some of their great seasonal releases. The challenge will be maintaining quality as they grow bigger... I'm looking at you SA.

MI was only just over 30% of their volume, so they had plenty of growth potential in state.
See page 14 for instate vs out of state sales.
