I watched the Brew Dogs episode last night that took place in Chicago. I found it interesting that there were not any Goose Island beers mentioned in the show. It was not even listed in the top 5 best craft breweries in Chicago. The last time I was in Chicago back in 2005, the majority of the taps in the bars and eateries were Goose Island taps. Did the fact that Goose Island is part of Anheiser Busch have anything to do with why they were not mentioned in the show?

I thought that was weird, too. I was waiting for them to appear in the Top 5. The BCBS series trumps almost anything in the area except 3 Floyds. I don't think the crowd really liked the "greenest beer ever brewed."

I did not think they overhelmed by the greenest beer ever either. I never heard a dumpit chant on any of their episoded untill last night. I know that all the 5 craft breweries are most likely better that Goose Island, just the fact that none of their beers were featured makes me wonder if their associaton with Anheiser Busch had anything to do with it.

I think the episode had more to do with there being so many new smaller breweries in the Chicago area these days. Did they mention, or go to, the new Lagunitas brewery?

Check out this thread in the Great Lakes Forum.

Most bars and eateries in Chicago still have Goose Island beers on tap, but the craft beer landscape has totally changed since 2005. I didn't see the show, but I would assume that breweries like Revolution, Half Acre, Pipeworks, Metropolitan, Two Brothers, and many others are the new craft beers of choice here. I'm not sure any of those existed in 2005 (except Two Brothers)

    Nothing about Lagunitas.

Its almost to the point that Goose is too mainstream in Chicago. Granted they make a few awesome beers, some have been looked to as the "norm". Places like Half-Acre, Revolution, or even Pipeworks are taking over, especially due to all the hop-heads. I didnt catch the episode, but Three-Floyds is INDIANA TERRITORY! (home state pride)...

The show took place at Revotion. Pretty much all of those breweries were metioned in the show.

They visited FFF and had to wait 45 minutes in the parking lot before they filmed.

They at least admitted that 3 floyds was in Indiana, but said that they're too good not to mention.

They had three floyds, pipeworks, and half acre I think in the top 5. They were missing revolution, or I am mixing up half acre and rev, one of the two wasn't on there

I live in the SW Burbs; only 30 minutes away from 3 Floyds. I sometimes consider it part of the greater Chicagoland area and forget that it's actually Indiana.

They said these were their "Top 5 favorite" besides Revovlution. I'm pretty sure they say that in every episode. That way it includes the brewery they're visiting. So, it's more like a "Top 6".

I thought Goose might even host the knuckleheads. Then again I also expected at least one Ferris Bueller reference...

I would imagine they ignored Goose because it's too mainstream (as others have said), and possibly also because the brand has been bought out. I'd still say they're as good as anything else we've got (which is saying a lot).

I was thinking that one of their top 5 Chicago breweries was a brewery and pizza place but I can't remember the name of it.
