Could be because Lagunitas orginated in California, and they wanted to feature breweries that orginated in the Chicago area.

I can almost assure you it because of the AB buyout. They really hate the fact they did that. James posted this a while back while they were filming out there

Wasn't it Goose Island who brought back barrel aging and made it relevant again? Also, I think they also snubbed Sheffields Beer & Wine Garden, I was reading about the owner when he died and I remember reading that he was a pioneer in buying craft beer. He was one of the only owners buying kegs from unheard of breweries when no one was.

FFF is definitely in Indiana, but they fly a Chicago flag out front.

I think you can draw a line back to Goose Island to see that they actually started the barrel aging phenom
So, it's your basic snobbery. And he doesn't know what he's talking about with the IPA, it's been pretty consistent all along -- no matter where it's being brewed -- I drink it all the time.
Maybe, but just the fact that a bigger micro (is that an oxymoron?) chose to open a second brewery in Chicago is worthy beer news. At least to many.

According to a friend, the top 5 were:

    5. Haymarket
    4. Half Acre
    3. Local Option
    2. Pipeworks
    1. Three Floyds

I would assume they omitted Goose Island and Lagunitas because those two don't really need to be mentioned and they are trying to give some attention to the smaller guys.

Iirc, they never put the featured partner brewery in their top 5 list for the city. Its more of a top 5 other breweries that we haven't mentioned list.

I don't think think their "featured" brewery is ever in the top 5 are they? I thought they mean the top 5 as well as

I see beerbro beat me. Haha

Hey. I've enjoyed watching this show, but after watching all of the episodes, have always come away that the best parts of the show have to do with everything BUT the beer being made. Thanks.

I also noticed that next week's is in Las Vegas? My wife and I are were trying to guess what regions they'd hit in season two, and this was not anywhere on our map. Our guesses: Vermont, Michigan, Chicago, LA, Florida or Texas.

Local Option was one of the top 5 beer bars. Not one of the top 5 breweries. Piece was the other top 5 brewery.

Top 5 Beer Bars were, in no particular order. Map Room, Maria's Packaged Goods and Community Bar, Publican, Local Option, and Hopleaf.

Ok that makes more sense then. I was wondering how/why they would have made the Top 5 breweries.

Agreed. Their beer isn't bad, it's just that anytime I go in there I would rather have about 4 or 5 of their other taps instead. Great Bar, marginal brewery.

This was filmed around St Patrick's day and Lagunitas had not opened yet in Chicago at that time.
