Wow, I just had a can of Old Chub Nitro and I feel like my eyes have been opened. So smooth, creamy, and just gosh-darn drinkable. I can see myself drinking a lot more nitro beer. What other nitro cans are out there that you are a fan of?

(Bonus points if you can suggest a nitro I can find in the Southern California area!)

Nothing that's been canned like Old Chub so far. But I suggest looking for bad-ass beer on nitro-tap like Old rasputin, etc.

I have noticed that nitro beers, particularly those from Ireland and Britain get very little love on these boards. I do like those beers, cut my teeth on them back in the day, when that was about all you could get outside the Big Beer guys and some regional breweries that produced adjunct lagers. I have not tried Old Chub nitro yet, I was never a fan of the original style but I have been intrigued passing by the stack of cans at a local store. I will probably give it a try soon.

While it provides a novel mouthfeel, I think nitro hurts most other aspects of the beer..especially the nose.
If you get a chance, try a nitro vs. non-nitro version of the same beer side by side and make note of how muted the nitro versions usually are.

Old Chub is definitely a brew that is made better by Nitro. Old Rasputin the same. Both are really good beers when carbonated, but on nitro they become great.

I think the number of craft beers in nitro cans can be counted on one hand.

Boulder Mojo and Mojo Risin (mediocre IPAs imo) both taste better on nitro draft than regular c02.

Old Chub is one of my favorite beers and certainly a go to in my fridge at all times. It has a very high rating from me and I drink one 2-3 times a week at least. So needless to say I was very excited about the nitro cans when I saw them. But I would certainly have to agree with Domingo above and say that while the head and feel was cool I felt the smell, and more importantly the taste, were off a little. I did a side by side and I certainly felt the novelty did not make up for the loss of nose and flavor which are much more important to me. I will be sticking with my good ole regular Old Chub.

I concur. Had an IPA on nitro and couldn't smell the hops at all, and it was a pretty hoppy beer. Had an old raspy on nitro and thought thought damn where did all the aroma go???

I haven't had a chance to try the Old Chub nitro yet but wonder if I'll agree. I find that Left Hand Milk Stout goes from good to great in its nitro version, but on the other hand, I think Sawtooth is nearly unpleasant in its nitro version. I really love the smoothness of the Milk Stout nitro - do you find similar flavor loss on your palate between those two, if you've had 'em?

The creaminess of Nitrogen suits better for a darker beer or malty style that is traditionally not hoppy like a scotch ale or cream ale. As for IPA'S, nitro does little for the beer in enhancing and bringing out flavors the majority of the time.

I find that the IPA has to be an English style to be worth a nitro pour. I love Berkshire Lost Sailor on nitro! But, anything with a ton of hops definitely loses out with nitro.
